Former Senator Rose to Primary State Senator Scott
SUMMERVILLE — Mike Rose announced Thursday his candidacy for state Senate District 38.
Rose, who served in the Senate from 1988 to 1997, said local leaders concerned about growth urged him to run for the seat that includes parts of Dorchester and Charleston counties.
“Growth is becoming a real issue in our community while state spending continues out of control,” he said in a press release. “As senator, I was recognized for my votes to limit government spending and taxes, and for tougher ethics laws. I’ve also been known for tackling the tough issues and getting things done. And that’s what we need now, particularly on the growth issues facing our community.”
