McCrory Tops Fundraising
RALEIGH, N.C. — Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory raised nearly $1.2 million during the first 3 1/2 months of the year, far outpacing the three other leading Republican candidates for governor.
McCrory and the others were required to file their first-quarter campaign finance reports by Monday night with the State Board of Elections.
Sen. Fred Smith of Clayton reported $885,000 in contributions, although $500,000 came from personal loans made to his campaign.
Salisbury attorney Bill Graham said nearly all of the $370,000 he raised was borrowed money.
Former Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr said he raised $77,000.
I stand by what I’ve said in the past. McCrory is the only viable challenger to either Moore or Perdue. These numbers are proving it.
Groan…
Has McCrory said anything about that 15% water rate hike yet?
And this would be the same McCrory who, two years ago, shrugged his shoulders and said “aw shucks” when he admitted illegal immigrants were working on the new arena and NASCAR museum.
This is the mayor of a city that’s seeing such a drastic surge in violent crimes that 100 people showed up at last night’s city council meeting to give him the business?
He talks a big game about leading that “delegation of concerned citizens” to Raleigh last year, only to be “rebuffed” by the governor. He oughta be paying more attention to the delegation of concerned citizens who apparently can’t walk the streets of Charlotte anymore without creaming their jeans.
Look, I’m not too impressed by the other three candidates either. I contend that Bob Orr is the best “on paper” candidate, but that obviously hasn’t done jack for his fundraising.
But if Pat McCrory is “the answer”, then what the hell was the question? This clown is gonna get pimp-smacked by Perdue or Moore.
Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying Pat is the best candidate, just that he is the most viable. The polls do not reflect your opinion on him getting his clock cleaned by the Democrats. In fact, they show him being the only one able to beat them.
Fred Smith started airing ads far too late.
