Mumpower Back on Campaign Trail
The Asheville city councilman said he would resume his bid once at least eight county GOP parties in the 15 counties that make up the Western North Carolina district committed to what he called “core Republican Party principles.” He wanted the county parties to promise to hold elected officials accountable to those values.
Mumpower said Monday that he has received word that eight counties had signed on to his plan. But he plans to press GOP officials across the state to commit to the same values.
I said back when Mumpower suspended his campaign that I didn’t think it was a good idea and I’m still not sure that I agree with his methods here, but nevertheless he seems to have gotten what he wanted out of it. Agree or disagree, I do admire the man’s committment to what he believes in.
