Death Penalty Persued in Eve Carson Case

HILLSBOROUGH - Prosecutors said Monday they plan to seek the death penalty against a man charged in the kidnapping and fatal shooting of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body president Eve Carson.

The Times-News

Good luck trying to get ultra-liberal Orange County to go along with the execution.  As noted in the article, it’s been almost 25 years since an Orange County jury has agreed to a death penalty verdict.

Atwater and Laurence Alvin Lovette, 17, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Carson, 22, of Athens, Ga. Atwater also is charged with first-degree kidnapping, felonious larceny, armed robbery and felonious possession of stolen goods.

The death penalty can’t be sought against Lovette because of his age.

I think this whole age restriction is crap.  So you mean to tell me that had Lovette been less than a year older he wouldn’t have been involved in this because the day he turned 18 he would have suddenly been enlightened as to how wrong it is to kidnap and murder a young woman in cold blood?

I say fry them both.  Better yet, let’s have a public hanging right in downtown Chapel Hill, just like they used to do back in the olden days.  Bring the whole family long and a couple lawn chairs to lounge on for the festivities.  I’ll bring the popcorn.

It is an insult they’d pick somebody as Daisy Duke to play Eve Carson in her new movie, http://tinyurl.com/6omd8t.

blacks are lucky that they live in modern day america.if this beautiful girl had been murdered by these animals 60 years ago, their would be 100 good size country boys standing on the steps of the jailhouse wearing white bedsheets (if you know what i mean) holding pitchforks, torches and shotguns ready to dish out southern justice.

In that case, I think we are ALL lucky this isn’t 60 years ago.

Atleast they didn’t pick somebody like Britney to play her. That would have been the insult!

we must not go down the route that South Africa has taken - sitting idly by and virtually legitimizing the criminal activities of certain cultures out of fear of being called racist because of actions that have happened in the past.

aclu types have no justification to complain unless they themselves have been put in the front line. enough is enough.
