If Lawmakers Don’t Have to Follow the Law, Why Should You?

Drunken County Councilman Paul Lindemann was nabbed by a Herald reporter driving to his council meeting yesterday while on a suspended license. You may remember that Councilman Lindemann had his license suspended last month after he was pulled over for a DUI and refused a breathalyzer test.  This is Lindemann’s third DUI.

According to The Herald in the state of South Carolina those losing their driving privileges can apply for a waiver that allows them to drive to work and school but Lindemann possesses no such exemption.  So why does the law apply to the rest of us schmoes while elected officials like Paul Lindemann just skirt by?  Lindemann has set up a poor example and should resign his seat.  His refusal to do so could put this seat at risk for the Republicans in November.
