McCain Holds Big Lead in South

A Winthrop/ETV poll released yesterday shows McCain with an overall handy lead in the southern U.S., sixteen points to be exact holding 51% of the vote to Obama’s 35%.  That’s not really surprising.  Obama does not represent the values of southern voters overall.  They are polling close in four states, however.  McCain leads by one point in Virginia, four in North Carolina, three in Florida (although I don’t really consider Florida to be a “southern” state) and seven in Georgia.
