Cornelius Officials Ponder Lake Norman Rental Permits

CORNELIUS Town commissioners are considering rules that would require Lake Norman property owners to receive town board approval – including a public hearing – before they could offer their homes as vacation rentals.

Commissioners also are exploring whether to limit the rental homes to areas that allow only multifamily housing.

After some residents complained earlier this year about parking and noise at what they said was a vacation rental home, town attorney Bill Brown researched how communities elsewhere in North Carolina and the rest of the country regulate such homes.

Resident Caroline Lentz of Island Forest Drive said she hopes commissioners will more strongly regulate the homes.

Charlotte Observer

Tell Caroline Lentz to stick it up her behind.  If a property owner on Lake Norman wants to rent their house out to vacation goers that is their business as the owner of the property and nobody else’s.  This idea is nothing but a power grab by the local government and an infringement on private property rights.  People like Ms Lentz are trying to abuse the use of government to further her own agenda at the expense of someone else’s rights.
