Graham Will Stay in SC if McCain Elected
CHARLESTON — If South Carolina voters send Lindsey Graham back to the U.S. Senate, the Republican says, he will serve all six years.
“Those folks who like seeing my smiling face will be seeing me around here for a while. I will stay in the Senate if re-elected and serve out my second term,†Graham said Friday as he began a weekend of campaigning in the area.
Graham said he does not plan to follow John McCain to the White House if the Republican presidential nominee wins the presidency.
Well that’s some glum news. I was hoping a McCain presidency might be the one way we could get Graham the hell out of here.
Well that makes voting for Conley a no-brainer then. I would have voted for Graham if there was still some hope McCain could drag him to DC and have Sanford replace him but if Graham is staying I will not be voting for him.
Lindsey Graham smiles a lot. He’s really good at putting a happy face on everything. When revealed on Fox News Sunday recently that he spent $305 million on earmarks (in essense making those hundreds of millions part of his re-election campaign fund) he didn’t deny it. He admitted that he was “part of the problem” but immediately followed that up by saying that he wants “to be part of the solution.” And he smiled and everything was right with the world–NOT!
If it were possible in anywhere but politics to get ahead by promising to end problems you yourself are responsible for, we’d have a lot of very self-disciplined entrepreneurs out there. Lindsey doesn’t realize that we can think all this through. He just smiles and thinks everyone will magically forget about his responsibility for this crashing economy.
It sounds like an “old Jedi mind-trick. ” Unfortunately for us, Lindsey Graham is no Obiwan Kenobi. He’s more of the sycophantic Jar-Jar Binks type–eager to make a deal that puts himself ahead and too shallow to either foresee the consequences or simply not caring about them.
We can always count on Lindsey Graham to have a happy smile on his face. He’ll smile while he’s telling you that he can solve all our problems with a billionaire bailout using taxpayer money money. He’ll smile when he tells you that our dollar will not be inflated by printing up 700 billion more dollars. He’ll smile when he tells you that matters won’t be made worse by the bailout of his rich friends. He’ll smile when he tells you that you have to suffer more, lose your savings through inflation, and have less buying power so his rich multi-national buddies will NOT have to suffer. Isn’t life wonderful?
It apparently is wonderful for Lindsey Graham. If he’s re-elected this time, it will show that he can go missing in action while he’s off campaigning for U.S. Attorney General, completely ignoring the people of South Carolina and they will turn around and reward him with hardly a thought of the consequences. More of the same of this economy thanks to the likes of Lindsey Graham and his corrupt Washington insider experience will be hard to tolerate.
We can’t continue to ignore the corruption in D.C. It’s time to shake Washington, D.C. to its foundations. It’s time to elect a real man, with a real plan: the U.S. Constitution. That man is BOB CONLEY! It’s long past time to give our supreme law of the land another try.
BTW: John McCain, whether you like him or not, will never, as a member of the administration’s party, win the presidency with the economy in a shambles. That’s one of those political “facts of life.” It would be an absolute miracle if it were to happen. I don’t think John McCain is capable of inspiring a miracle.
