Obama Campaign Lies about Ayers Ties to USC
In addition to Obama denouncing Ayers’ views and activities, Obama’s campaign sent out a press release Monday downplaying Obama’s relationship with Ayers and attempting to show that others in public life have associations with Ayers.
The release read in part:
“(Ayers) is currently a distinguished scholar at (USC). … Sanford, who supported Senator McCain’s campaign as far back as the 2000 primaries, serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees. By Governor Palin’s standards, that means Sanford shares Ayers’ views.â€
USC spokesman Russ McKinney said Monday Ayers is not a USC scholar. Ayers has visited the university a couple of times to participate in programs put on by the College of Education, celebrating the importance of teaching, McKinney said. He did not know when Ayers last visited, but thought it was a couple of years ago.
You would think Obama would verify an accusation like this before he makes it. You’d also think that he wouldn’t hold a campaign event in the home of a domestic terrorist.
