Myrick Won’t Debate Taylor

Congressional candidate Harry Taylor accused Rep. Sue Myrick of doing a “disservice†to voters because she hasn’t agreed to debate him.
Taylor, a Democrat from Charlotte, said Tuesday that his campaign first asked the lawmaker in a Sept. 23 letter to make a joint appearance, and was told by Myrick’s staff that it would be considered. Additional attempts to get a debate scheduled were ignored, his campaign said.
Asked about it Tuesday, Myrick said “it’s in our schedule file†but the Charlotte Republican didn’t know if she could find time for such an event. Myrick noted that typically debates are organized by outside groups like the League of Women Voters.
Look, there is little chance that Harry Taylor is going to defeat Sue Myrick, if any chance at all. Myrick is in what is probably the safest Republican Congressional district in North Carolina. That being said, the voters are entitled to a head-to-head between the two. I can’t imagine why Myrick wouldn’t agree to at least one debate, unless they simply think it’s a waste of time. What is she worried about?
She won’t debate because she knows she can’t measure up.
