Stokes Man Hangs Flag Upside Down in Protest of Obama’s Election
A Stokes County man is protesting the election of Barack Obama by mounting an upside-down X-ed out flag on his property.
Tony Heath said he believes that Obama was only elected because of his skin color and that he is not qualified.
“I believe it is a racist problem, and the racism is he was put in there because he is black.” Heath said.
Heath said he wouldn’t have a problem if a qualified black man was elected. He said he voted for John McCain.
Sure, there were people that came out and voted because they wanted a black President, but there were plenty of reasons why Obama was elected. He ran a great campaign. The man got out there and inspired people. Personally, I think he was full of shit, but lots of people were drawn to him.
Also, his ascendancy to the White House is the Republicans’ failure. Bush has been a terrible President and his administration and his party in Congress strayed from the promises they made and the principles that the American people sent them to Washington for in the first place. On top of that, McCain was a weak candidate. His campaign was lackluster and his supporters simply weren’t motivated. I noticed this for months. South Carolina is one of the most Republican states in this country and I saw very few yard signs out for John McCain and even fewer bumper stickers on cars. McCain made himself to be the “Not Obama” candidate and that isn’t enough.
I understand where Mr. Heath is coming from. Barack Obama is probably the least qualified and the most shady person to ever be elected President, but John McCain was no pick of the litter either. Yet, for some reason everybody went out and voted for one of the two of them (except me, because I’m smarter than the average bear). There were other people on the ballot besides McCain and Obama, but the sheep that go out and vote have allowed themselves to be programmed into thinking they must choose between R and D. As long as that thinking continues the American people will be nothing more than lambs to the slaughter every election and they get what they deserve.
