Democrats Gain County Council Seat in Heavily Republican York County

The Republicans have dominated the York County Council in recent years.  The seven person council has been comprised of six Republicans and just one Democrat, but that all changed with Tuesday’s election.  My councilman, Republican Rick Lee, suffered a surprise defeat by his Democratic challenger, Chad Williams.  Williams defeated Lee by 415 votes according to unofficial results.

In another watched council race, Paul Lindemann easily won reelection to the First Council District.  Lindemann was the one who has had several run ins with alcohol while on the road in recent years.  This is a seat that should have changed hands, but it appears that the straight party lever saved Lindemann.
