State Tells CMS to Cut $5 Million in Spending
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is facing a huge budget crisis and it stems from a statewide problem.
North Carolina needs millions to pay bills and is asking CMS to return more than $5 million.
The state says the classroom is the last place cuts should take place, but there may be no other choice.
No one from CMS would talk to us about the situation and most administrators are still trying to digest this low blow.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has a media department that eats up about $4 million a year. They can make major cuts in that area. Hell, why not just eliminate it altogether? They don’t need a media department. It’s not raising the quality of any child’s education in the district.
