Jeff Katz Fired From WBT!

Published by Bane Windlow at 9:21 pm under Activists, Greater Charlotte, North Carolina

This is big news in Charlotte talk radio circles.  Jeff Katz, the ultra-conservative commentator who has hosted his own radio show on the drive home in the 3PM to 6PM on WBT has been canned.  His show is going to be replaced by Tara Servatius who currently has her own show in the 9PM to midnight slot.

Details as to why Katz was let go have not been released, but it honestly doesn’t bother me.  I have always found him extremely annoying.  He has a tendency to extrapolate an issue into something that it isn’t in order to fit some crazy view of his.  He is also very combative with people who call in if they don’t agree with him.  When ever I listened to him I just got the feeling that he thinks he’s always right and everyone else’s opinion is wrong.  I listen to him very little these days.

Servatius, on the other hand, is awesome.  I listen to her regularly every night before I go to bed.  Personally, I’d rather she stayed in the night slot because now with her on from 3 to 6 I’m only going to get a little less than the last hour of the program now on my way home, but that time slot is obviously much better for her.  She’ll get a lot more exposure.  I like her because I think she is more down to reality and just believes in common sense, putting her ideology aside, something that Katz can’t do.

He was full of hatred for muslims, never took our calls as he knew has was wrong. Basically he was spreading hate and v enom by his propaganda. I invited him to our mosque few times, he never replied. He deserved what he got. In these times we don’t need false propaganda but a interfaith dialogue.

  3. Georgeon 01 Dec 2008 at 10:32 pm

I am disappointed that Jeff is leaving the show. He is one of those rare people who was not afraid to speak the truth. He did not hate muslims, only the fanatical ones that continue to threaten the silent muslim community with violence. Those are the true hate mongers.

Jeff was involved in many positive community programs including taking up letters and contributions for our Marine servicemen overseas.

What I liked about Jeff that I despise about those on other media outlets is that he did not try to deceive people on where he stood. WFAE, NPR are so liberal, yet they try to pretend that they deliver a fair representation of the news.

I hope Tara fairs well, and keeps the conservative flag flying.

    Good luck to you Jeff.

    And so it begins…
WBT cowering to the Left. Tara has led just as many anti-Obama discussions as Jeff. WBT is just looking for a ’softer’ way of going about it now. Jeff was edgy and not afraid to say what many of us are thinking. Just because he’s gone from WBT, doesn’t mean that the spirit of Conservatism will ever go away!

  5. davemanbmeon 02 Dec 2008 at 7:30 am

Oh, once again political correctness has reared it’s ugly head! I am ashamed that we all have to now cower at the prospect that whatever we say will be turned against ourselves to say we are racists, a certain religion hater, or just a nut-job! Jeff Katz was provocotive and said what he believed! WBT is obviously cow-towing to the liberal media left and must be terrified that the “Fairness in Media” Act will be passed now that Barack Hussein Obama has been elected President. All you sheep out there better wisen up because freedom of speech as well as every other basic right we have enjoyed for over 200 years is going by the wayside! WBT should be ashamed…they knew what kind of opinions they were getting when they hired the man!

  6. Connieon 02 Dec 2008 at 7:42 am

    Jeff,
Thank goodness for XM Radio. We don’t have to listen to WBT 1110 to get the truth. If you are reading this, please let us all know where you land! Thanks!! Connie

  7. Popeyeon 02 Dec 2008 at 7:46 am

Ultraconservative commentator? Ha! Try Mouthpiece of Hate. This guy was just another hack in the string of Rush wannabees in WBT’s afternoon slot. I hope Tara has something constructive to bring to the table and isn’t just another hateful whiner.

  8. Snoopyon 02 Dec 2008 at 8:28 am

Jeff Katz was awesome and I enjoyed listening to him on my way home from work. He spoke the truth and did not beat around the bush, but he won’t fit in with Obama’s “Fairness Doctrine” garbage that is being implemented already and this turkey is not even in the White House yet.
Freedom of speech and expression are what I love about this country but apparently one inexperienced socialist is going to change all that in a month.
He did not loathe muslims either…he despises terrorists….ppl that are filled with hatred for Americans.
And those ppl also live in this country by the way. Many of them.
I won’t be listening to the show anymore. It will never be the same without Jeff Katz.

  9. Miloon 02 Dec 2008 at 8:37 am

“He was full of hatred for muslims, never took our calls as he knew has was wrong.”

Hatred? I’ve not seen any Americans indiscriminately killing Jews, Hindus, etc — I’m reserving the hate word for you Muslim males at this time.

“Basically he was spreading hate and v enom by his propaganda. I invited him to our mosque few times, he never replied. He deserved what he got.”

He deserved what he got? Yea, just like the Jews in Mumbai — who knew. I’ve done 4 tours in the middle east and having been shot at from multiple Mosques, houses of peace and terrorists, I’d not visit your mosque either.

” In these times we don’t need false propaganda but a interfaith dialogue.”

Yea because that’s working so good for us now. Until the supposed non-violent Muslims make a bold stand against the Islamoterrorists we’ll continue to be attacked by you Muslim males and in return we’ll continue to hunt them down.

Agree with everything you said in the article. Katz seems like a nice enough guy but he was neither a good provider of news and information nor was he very entertaining.

I’ve been a big fan of Tara Servatius for a while and I’m glad she’s getting the big spot.

  11. Mikeon 02 Dec 2008 at 10:07 am

@Popeye: Just because you dont like the truth doesnt mean its hateful. It doesnt mean is negative. It doesnt mean its .

The truth HURTS. Get over it. Or are you just another lefty whackjob whose mommy and daddy (if you have one) never uttered the word NO to you who cant stand it when people speak honestly and without political correctness.

Our nation is headed into a very dark period now that B. Hussein Obama has fleeced you all into voting for him. My “HOPE” is that this fraud gets smacked by a judge for spending 800K to defend his wrongly assumed “right” to NOT offer his birth certificate for inspection.

If this ineligible fraud makes it to Inauguration then our Constitution may as well be burned. This very same fraud has spoken about how flawed it is, so why should he want to ahere to it. I wonder if he will be swearing on the Bible or the koran in January.

Dont like the truth DO YOU. Well, get over it and grow up. Life ISNT a party no matter what your liberal media and liberal entertainment whackos tell you.

  12. cknighton 02 Dec 2008 at 10:09 am

As a conservative/libertarian, I am glad to see Jeff go. He occasionally made some good points. But he would hammer them to death. Jeff also would take something small (light board in Boston advertising stunt, for instance) and blow it so out of proportion, that it would be ridiculous. He was an alarmist, and not the least bit entertaining. That is something that Keith Larson, Neil Boortz and Rush Limbaugh all have in common, even if their views are different. They have showmanship.

Another complaint I have about Jeff is that he isn’t that well educated on his topics. Jason Lewis, on the other hand would have much more information at his disposal. This meant that the callers to his show would have to be much smarter to outwit him. Jeff on the other hand would let every idiot call in, resulting in a dull show, with only shouting matches. The show was not that intelligent.

I am looking forward to Tara Servatius. She has clearly done her research on the topics. Hopefully, with the added exposure of this timeslot, her showmanship and the program’s production quality will increase with experience.

  13. Gmanon 02 Dec 2008 at 10:37 am

Liked him, didn’t like him, will not miss him. Tara is a great replacement, hope she can stand the pressure.

  14. Maoon 02 Dec 2008 at 10:51 am

Will NOT miss this self proclaimed perfect in every thought he had person.

Yes he was way too rude, crude, and socially unacceptable to be on radio.

The only person Jeff had any respect for was… himself.

WBT definitely will be back on my car radio, as well as my home radio.

    THANK YOU WBT..

  15. Johnnyon 02 Dec 2008 at 11:26 am

I have wondered for some time why WBT didn’t fire Jeff Katz. His response to black callers was often disturbing to listen to and he absolutely refused to at least dialogue with those who disagreed with him. He would interrupt callers constantly with whom he disagreed. He was often extremely rude.

The matter with Nick Mackey was run into the ground and he continued to pound it day after day. He came across to me as a racist. He likes Walter Williams, Alan Keyes and Tom Sowell, three of the most brilliant men in the nation, but otherwise he was very obnoxious toward black callers.

His stance on Islam is informed and spot on. He is aware of the common practice of Islamic equivocation and how Muslims are encroaching on our freedoms using our very own Constitution against us. This is not Islamophobia, just the truth. And I share his concerns about our president-elect.

His frequent rants over trivial matters such as the light rail and the school board made me turn the radio off. His negative characteristics far out weighed his positive. I won’t miss him.

Tara is a breathe of fresh air. She is as bold as Katz and Larson yet informed and prepared and willing to listen. Katz seemed to “shoot from the hip” rather than speaking from an informed position. Tara, on the other hand, actually knows what she’s talking about.

I’m looking forward to hearing from the managers of WBT this afternoon concerning Katz being fired.

  16. Andyon 02 Dec 2008 at 12:03 pm

    Mike and Johnny,
You’ve begun, as well as others, to bring illumination to this.
This is a free country, protected by a constitution and its associated laws and amendments that give us incredible freedoms. Immigrants moving here enjoy them – most Muslims would say that’s one of the prime reasons they come here.
I believe Jeff’s position focuses the spotlight on those who are ultimately after an America of Islam – a political/economic/religious system that can NOT co-exist with democracy. Jeff knows this, and espoused it. Whether or not his diplomacy in delivery was perfect is beside the point. The direction of current events leads to sedition, and the combination of sharia law, fairness doctrine, etc. ultimately lead to a new system of government.
And money speaks. If you don’t like the move, call all the advertisers and get them to pull the plug on WBT.
    Andy
P.S. Tara? Too much fluff and repeats. Info is good, but she could do her 3 hour show in an hour.

  17. cknighton 02 Dec 2008 at 12:17 pm

Some of these comments are so silly. WBT cowtowing to the left? We’re getting a taste of life under the fairness doctrine? Please. This isn’t censorship, WBT is a business. Surely, some of you conservatives understand that. If a radio program does not bring in advertising dollars, it doesn’t make the cut.

Even if the concepts of capitalism are lost on people, how can someone say that WBT is cowtowing the the left or political correctness? Their lineup: Keith Larson (libertarian/”actual conservative”) Rush Limbaugh (conservative/republican), Tara Servatius (conservative) John Hancock ( right-of-center)

  18. Bob Turneron 02 Dec 2008 at 12:31 pm

Jeff Katz now–soon Rush Limbaugh and the other conservative hosts around the country. With all the crooks in Washington and the “liberal press” (traitors that should be in jail), the “truth” doesn’t stand a chance. If Tara does her job as it should be done and as she professes to do it, she, too, will be fired. When I hear Al and Spacey proclaim they only “report the news”–what a joke!! There are questions and allegations about Obama and challenges in the the Supreme Court, but you remain silent with the rest of the “liberal idiots.” Your programs are becoming “classless”–but that’s what you want–everyone to walk the same path! Good luck!

  19. qcon 02 Dec 2008 at 12:41 pm

Some of the analysis in these comments really hits the mark. As for Katz, he:

    - wasn’t racist
    - wasn’t entertaining
    - was very abrasive and rude to callers who didn’t rubber stamp his views
    - was a major step down from Jason Lewis

This is a pretty awesome move for WBT. Tara’s analysis is often so compelling that I often find myself listening to her at home instead of watching TV. And I know who my pick to take her night time slot is — Pete Kaliner. He did a stand-up job while Tara was out on maternity leave and if you haven’t heard his broadcast the week of July 4th, 2008 on the Texas Robbery Incident you are really missing out.

  20. Roryon 02 Dec 2008 at 1:24 pm

Maybe one day why he got fired will come out, but to speculate that it was because of this or that is just that, speculation. I enjoyed his show and at times changed the channel when it wasn’t entertaining or informative. As far as it being hate radio or other such BS, get real. Some of us who were legal immigrants to the US appreciated his attacks on illegal immigration and bringing it up to light and who supported it. For those of us who fought our way through immigration, paid our dues timewise and monetarily are slapped in the face by those who want to legitimize illegals. As for being abrasive, rude ever listen to Air America when it was on the air and the trash they talked about southerners, christians and republicans. Yea, the left can cry all they want about the rudeness after all in the dictionary beside the definition of it is a donkey.

  21. J.P.on 02 Dec 2008 at 2:10 pm

It is ridiculous that in the U.S. today we have to be SOOO careful of what we say. People are overly sensitive…to the point of absurdity.
Jeff should NEVER have been fired for what he said…what happened to freedom of speech??? Someone should take a stance against people who cry and whine because someone speaks the truth and they don’t like to hear it…but we can see it won’t be WBT radio who will take that stance.
It is shameful what our country has come to.

  22. Kerstion 02 Dec 2008 at 2:11 pm

WBT is bowing to the left and the ‘common purpose’ in the name of political correctness. Don’t think I’ll bother to listen to the station any longer. As a previous letter stated, Tara is too much fluff and her voice can get rather annoying.

  23. LYon 02 Dec 2008 at 2:42 pm

I’ve actually starting listening to Hannity on the ‘other’ station. Jeff sometimes did seem to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I did agree on some occasions others I thought he was over doing it and I did feel a bit uneasy on the way some of his calls went. I like Tara fine, but I don’t think I can listen to her for 3 hours.

    Anyway, good luck Jeff.

  24. Bmacon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:17 pm

Katz is already an afterthought just like everyother business decision.

Whoever made the comment that the president elect is already affecting things in the country need to remember W is still in the White House.

Also, NC didn’t go to Mr. Obama for any other reason than some of your breathern cross the party line and vote Democratic. Mr. Bush has done the samething to the country that he did to every business he oversaw…he ran it into the ground.

Instead of sniping about losing or winning the election the population needs to get off its butt and start working together towards a resolution of the economic mess we are in.

    Happy Holidays

  25. Gordonon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:33 pm

I’ve got a little different perspective. When I moved here from Philadelphia almost two years ago for a new position with a great company, I was surprised to hear Jeff as I had listened to him with interest for years. It’s too bad that no one will say what happened to cause the change. I sure hope it’s not an attempt to move the station’s position due to the results of of the recent election. My politics do not always match Jeff’s-the current vote on the Observer’s website of 427 for 170 against and 81 who didn’t listen to him (then why did they bother to vote?) tells the tale. Tara is great, I enjoy her program when I can catch it and missed her when she was out on maternity leave. Her newspaper articles in Creative Loafing are always informative. Her strengths are in the Charlotte market, not as much big picture as Jeff. I’m glad I’ve got my XM radio-looks like I’m back to their selections when I’m lucky enough to catch some of the 3-6 time period.

  26. Allenon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:37 pm

I also am glad I have my XM radio. I would catch jeff’s show from time to time and would just be simply discusted with his way of talking down to everyone… It is obvious to me he is a racist… A little too much denial by him concerning that. Glad he is gone… Thank You WBT!

  27. Johnnyon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:37 pm

This just in: Jeff Katz was fired due to poor ratings. This from WBT management on the air at this time. It was purely a business move.

  28. Jibrilon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:41 pm

Katz is a hatemonger, bigot and Islamophobe. His type of rhetoric would have been welcomed in Nazi/Germany. As a Jew, he should have been aware of the way his propaganda and hate speech can effect minorities. (In this case, Muslims) This firing is long overdue. His removal probably has more to do with money, than morality or principle. This is the sad reality. It is also sad that WBT did not see him for what he was. They made money off of him, (at the expense of Muslims among others) while it lasted. Katz attacks on Muslims were classless and cowardly. Today Katz’s chickens have come home to roost.

  29. Moeon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:53 pm

Jeff did what the rest of the PC world will not…He called ‘em like he saw ‘em! And Jibrill you are one of ‘em!

  30. Tomon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:57 pm

This is just the first in a string of firings that Jeff warned us about brougt on by the Obama “Machine” to silence Conservitive Talk Radio.

  31. Markon 02 Dec 2008 at 3:58 pm

Jeff was abusive when it came to the Muslim community, Immigrants, African Americans and the Poor. He seemed to take great joy in picking on the most vulnerable people in the community. While he worked on MANY community projects, many times they were overshadowed by the and rudeness of his on-air persona. WBT is a Charlotte station and this is not the kind of person we needed representing our city. Being conservative was not the issue, being civil is. This is 2008, not 1968. Tara has been working in the community for years and does fine work. I think the WBT management made a tough but good decision.

  32. Rodon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:05 pm

Jeff was preaching to a smaller and smaller audience every day. All of his exclusionary tactics and negative banter was draining on me. I could never give him more than a minute or two between commercial breaks for other stations.
On the other hand Tara is one of the best host I’ve ever heard. She allows discourse with her callers even if she ultimately will disagree with them. She also seems to think her stances through a bit more and she talks about subjects that hit home locally.
I hope this time slot doesn’t effect her focus because she is an important local voice on crime and politics.

  33. Jibrilon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:07 pm

Moe, who are you saying that I am one of?

  34. Moeon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:08 pm

According to Management, Jeff was fired not for his views, but because of his ratings. If you buy that, you will very happy with your newly elected president!

  35. Fred Bratheon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:11 pm

Jeff Katz and his show voiced concerns internationally, nationally and locally about what Ameirca is turning into. Was he passionate, Yes! Does he hate Muslims, not at all, but since the the scurge of terrorism is constantly a threat, as seen again in India over the weekend, the subject of Islamic extremism and the lack of Muslim action against it was a prime topic. Jeff Katz dismissal from WBT doesn’t change that.

  36. Markon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:34 pm

Jeff was abusive when it came to the Muslim community, Immigrants, African Americans and the Poor. He seemed to take great joy in picking on the most vulnerable people in the community. 37. Mike Carinellion 02 Dec 2008 at 4:38 pm

    @Jibril

Read some history. Nazism is far closer to the Muslim
extremists than Katz a thousand times over. Sillly, stupid
    statement.

  38. Tommy Lopezon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:39 pm

I am a bit disappointed that wbt did not ask the audience before they decided to make a unilateral decision affecting so many. So it is safe to assume that writing this comment won’t affect anything anyway. Let me just say that I want to echo many of the voices above regarding the loss of Jeff Katz. He was brash, abrasive and wrong at times. However, he was brash, abrasive and write also. Regardless, it was important that he was allowed to share his views, our views, others views as he did.

This is not about his “hating” anyone, it is about the station doing something for clearly financial reasons as opposed to being “community minded”. (By the way a nice skating rink is not gonna fool anyone. that is not being community minded) Be honest wbt, I am sure sponsors were putting the pressure on as were the vocal voices in the community of “political correctness”.

Well, for one, I want you to know, those of you that have the power of the purse, that this radio listener will not be listening any longer. Note: I have NEVER called in, and never written before but consider myself one of the silent listeners out there. I believe there are many of us when I say that now that there is a “new” democratic regime my guess is that wbt will start moving in that direction as well. I only hope that Tara does not become the next victim of political correctness and of sponsors control over what we hear on the air.

  39. Johnnyon 02 Dec 2008 at 4:55 pm

    Jibril,

Katz’ “attacks on Muslims” were anything but “classless and cowardly.” They were clearly based on your Muslim brethren’s love of death and violence and hatred for all things non-Islamic. And knowing that you and other local Muslims occassionally listened to his show, he showed anything but cowardice. You have changed my mind about seeing Katz leave. WBT, bring him back and let him exercise his freedom of speech before Jibril and his ilk have their way and silence the American voice.

How absolutely absurd of you or any other Muslim to compare Jeff Katz to Hitler and his Nazis when you and your brethren are the ones emulating Hitler, calling for the annihilation of the Jews and Israel. Islam, like Hitler’s Germany wanted The Third Reich to rule the world, wants to subject all non-Muslims and Muslims you disagree with to your rule and law.

While you people are blowing each other up, men, women and children, Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus and all infidels, you have the gall to compare anyone to Hitler. Please. How stupid can one be.

Bring Jeff Katz back; I will listen.

  40. Heleneon 02 Dec 2008 at 5:00 pm

Will miss you…can’t stand Tara and will never listen to her! Wish you all the best!

  41. Markon 02 Dec 2008 at 5:22 pm

Jibril and the Muslim community weren’t responsible for Jeff Katz getting fired from WBT. WBT is a business. If Jeff Katz was able to make WBT money, Jeff would still be there. The management of WBT said that things were headed in the wrong direction and they had to move on. But if I were in charge of WBT, Jeff would have been canned a long time ago. hate doesn’t have a place in Charlotte. Its not cool or funny to attack people because of their religion, or the color of their skin. We are a country of immigrants. Its time to start acting like an Americans and pulling people together instead of trying to tear the country apart.

  42. Jibrilon 02 Dec 2008 at 5:32 pm

Oh Johnny. Katz was cowardly. Knowing that a few local Muslims listened to his show didn’t make him to not be a coward. He refused to face us or allow us to respond to his attacks on air. He was a big man when he was in the studio, with the power to take or not take calls and cut off callers.
Katz would love to silence Muslims and restrict our religious freedom and civil rights. His form of hate speech also has the power to motivate people against the Muslim community. The bottom line with Katz was he would not be happy with Muslims unless/until we denounce our faith or die. This is very Nazi-like.
Anyone who would kill innocent people of any religion is not a ‘brother’ of mine. Katz loved to lump all of those extremists together with the rest of the Muslims, like you are trying to do. Islam does not support the killing of any innocent human being.
Katz is not coming back, but you are welcome to go with him.

  43. Moeon 02 Dec 2008 at 5:46 pm

Well Jibril, IF you would denounce your extremist brethren for their evil acts or even acknowledge that they are wrong, your cause would gain more support!

  44. WorkingRedon 02 Dec 2008 at 5:53 pm

I honestly think that I agreed with Katz about 2% of the time (if that), and yes, he could be really hard on callers with a difference of opinion.

With that said, I think people need to hear the views and be open to the type’s discussions that Katz would put out there. Just like we may learn something by having a decent and open-minded discussion with someone like Jibril……what could it hurt, you may find out you have more in common than not.

    Try

  45. DouglasUSAon 02 Dec 2008 at 5:59 pm

I was stunned to hear of the firing of Mr Katz. Much of what he said on the air made total sense to me and I supported his ultra-conservative views, especially those of hate filled muslim’s who want to control our country’s thought and religion. I respected him for standing up for what has always been right. He was a welcome voice to Jason Lewis, who tended to grate on my nerves more often than not.
I think WBT has made a mistake by putting Tara in for his replacement. The different style of “facts over opinion” won’t work for drivetime radio in this market.

    Anti-immigrant Disc Jockey Fired

    ——————————————————————————–

KTSE-AM in Sacramento, California has fired disc jockey Jeff Katz for urging listeners to use their cars to hit illegal immigrants trying to cross into the U.S. from Mexico. During his morning talk show, Katz said drivers should be awarded sombrero bumper stickers that could be redeemed for a meal at Taco Bell. The National Hispanic Media Coalition, based in Los Angeles, took credit for the firing. (Cowles Daily)

This article is a reprint from “Don Fitzpatrick’s ShopTalk,” a broadcast media daily newsletter.

    Enough to say!!!

  47. Jibrilon 02 Dec 2008 at 6:11 pm

WorkingRed, Good point. I tried to do this with Jeff, but he was not interested in a discourse, etc. He only wanted to steer the talk about Islam towards his spin, with his so-called experts. He misled his listeners and did not want the facts or to be opposed by Muslims. An open-minded discussion is all that I or any other Muslim ever wanted. He was afraid of this because it would expose his agenda and possibly put Muslims in a better light.

  48. Bane Windlowon 02 Dec 2008 at 6:57 pm

He was fired for being too conservative? Because WBT is moving left? Too politically correct? Boy, the conspiracy theories are flying tonight.

I still haven’t been able to find anything on why Katz was let go, although someone already mentioned it was because of unsatisfactory ratings. There is no reason to believe otherwise. WBT, like any other radio station, is a business and their bottom line is what matters. If Katz was a cash cow to them even with him being rude, brash, racist, bigoted, whatever you may think of him, they wouldn’t throw him over the boat.

Money makes the world go round.

  49. DilbertW01on 02 Dec 2008 at 7:18 pm

    Jibril -

I wish I could believe you. I really do. However, from the reading of the Quran (or Koran, or Kuran, or one of the other spellings I have seen), it spewed more hatred of anything not Muslim than Jeff Katz did. Behead those who will not convert (paraphrased). Yup, that sure is a message of love – not. Most of the peace minded muslims who don’t practice that sure don’t speak out against their crazed brothers. To those who think that they are going to implement Sharia law, I will just say that I will fight to the last bullet and never convert.
As a Christian and conservative, I openly oppose the KKK who use God and words of the Bible behind their actions. I have never seen a Muslim take such an outspoken stance against beheadings, suicide bombings, etc.
With the election of Hussein Obama and what he is going to try to implement, I can only think that this country is ever more closer to some form of civil war than ever before since the last one. How will it be fought – I know not. I just know that the left in this country who support and defend the muslim faith, oppose gun ownership, support homosexual marriages and want open season abortion are going to be brought down by force – and I don’t shed a tear for that. When they try to collect up my weapons, I have no problem giving them the ammo first from the business end of my gun.
The firing of Jeff Katz was a cowardly move by WBT management. They bowed down to the left. They gave in to the muslims (I can’t count the number of times in a week that I have my Christianity insulted on TV) and the defense of the muslim religion. They are also afraid now that a muslim is going to be in the White House, they know that the “fairness” doctrine is only a matter of time. See how that goes…….. Anybody remember how ‘Air America’ faired?
Flame me if you like – I don’t care. I will speak my mind while we still have that right in the United States of the Offended. I, like Rush Limbaugh, make an ‘I told you so’ prediction. I hope I am wrong, but I think this country is headed for a ‘civil war’ and is pretty much finished. We just don’t know it yet.

  50. Leslieon 02 Dec 2008 at 8:23 pm

I for one cannot believe Jeff Katz was fired- as far as I’m concerned he was the BEST of WBT. No one else had the courage to speak about the important issues facing us today. He was not racist, nor against anyone except those bringing this great country of ours down. Jibril- when we FINALLY see the Muslim community expressing the OUTRAGE that freedom and peace-loving individuals feel over the unbelievably violent acts commited by the so called Muslim extremists- then maybe YOU will have an audience. But until then- your angry emails are just that.
Jeff- I loved listening to your show each day on my way home from work- you made my commute home from Charlotte tolerable. You even spurred me to call and email my government representatives regarding immigration- and I really felt I made a difference!
As far as Tara- I’m she she’s a lovely person- but I find her voice irritating and I just cannot listen to her for more than 5 minutes.

    What’s next? No more Rush?

  51. Keith Larsonon 02 Dec 2008 at 8:51 pm

Muslims are scum. The so-called “moderates” can never be found or are hiding in fear of the jihadists. We will have no peace until every one of them is wiped off the face of the earth. Thank you.

  52. Donon 02 Dec 2008 at 8:59 pm

I think that he is a racist and he sucks! He blames Obama for everything that went wrong and thinks that George Bush was great. President Bush did a bail out i twas okay, but when Obama wants to do it he considered him a socialist.

  53. russon 02 Dec 2008 at 9:50 pm

It’s amazing when someone popular gets fired at any other type of company or organization the media demands answers from the employer. When the shoes on the other foot it’s a whole different ballgame.

I wish the best for Jeff and his family and welcome Tara to the insecure time slot of 3-6pm as another one bites the dust.

  54. Howardon 02 Dec 2008 at 9:55 pm

Liked him – did not always agree with his approach on some issues with callers, but for the most part, Jeff was right on. Why was it okay for callers to be rude and obnoxious with Jeff, but he was supposed to sit there and take it? Give me a break. Most of the confrontational callers got exactly what they deserve. I do think WBT needs to do a better job in screening callers. They should have to at least have an IQ of 10. That would have prevented a lot of the Jeff Katz rants that exposed the stupidity and ignorance of many in this country. Maybe we should have to pass an IQ test to vote as well – and maybe even be able to read the ballot or speak english??? AAH – what am I thinking, this is america.

  55. Georgeon 02 Dec 2008 at 9:56 pm

Jeff Katz was fired for his abrasiveness and his bias, plain and simple. Compare and contrast if you will – Jason Lewis, the previous host, used logic and facts. Jason was, I believe, a red-head with blue eyes. If studies showed or statistics showed that a majority of red-headed, blue-eyed men were total idiots, Jason would be the first to report it, debate it, and accept it. Katz, on the other hand, was clealy blinded by his pro-cop and pro-Jew bias. I have nothing against cops or Jews, far from it, but Katz took his bias to the extreme as if all cops and Jews are pure as the driven snow, and all folks critical of either were Satan’s spawn. Because of this, and his abrasive behavior, WBT lost me as a listener.

  56. Johnnyon 02 Dec 2008 at 10:34 pm

    Oh Jibril, Jibril,

I will not go away. Was that a veiled threat, Jibril? We know how Muslims react when they are offended.

Islam is the enemy of all freedom loving people, including millions of oppressed Muslims. Your religion is founded on hate and murder and lust and greed and lying and lies. You have been deceived by Satan himself into believing a lie.

How can you say that Islam does not condone the killing of innocent people? I guess it depends on what you mean by “innocent,” huh? A fine example of equivocation. And really, do you have your head buried in the sand that you cannot see your fellow Muslims killing innocent people everyday? I would have to conclude that Islam does in fact condone and even promote the killing of innocents. What else can I conclude?

Ahmadinejad and Khomeini and Hamas calling for the annihilation of the Jews and the destruction of Israel doesn’t strike you as Islam condoning the murder of innocents? Not to mention millions of everyday Muslims around the globe clamoring for the annihilation of Israel and America and the West in general. And the history of your religion contradicts your defense.

Anyone who says anything negative about Islam is a hate monger, an Islamophobe? This is called “free speech” in America, something you are allowed to exercise yourself. So you would silence this “hate speech” against Islam? And you are the one who defines hate speech?

In spite of the millions who have died under Islam at the hands of Muslims you still defend this religion of hate and war? How can anyone be so blind? 2 Cor. 4:4. The only religion that Hitler wanted to silence was Judaism, just like Islam seeks to do … and Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism.

  57. Markon 02 Dec 2008 at 10:44 pm

It’s interesting to see people post here that call themselves “Christians” and yet are the first to spew bigoted hate like “I will fight to the last bullet and never convert.” How ignorant can people be. Why should a Muslim AMERICAN living in Charlotte have to apologize for something he has never done. I don’t see Christians lining up to apologize for the Millions of people Christians have murdered in the name of God in the past 2000 years or apologizing for the Branch Davidians, or Timothy Mcveigh, etc. because that would be ridiculous. Where are all the Christians ? Lets love our neighbors. Could someone step up ? This is the prime reason I left church. If not, lets get together and burn our Bibles.

    Mark 12:28-31(NIV)
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[b] 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c]There is no commandment greater than these.”

  58. Lesleyon 02 Dec 2008 at 11:01 pm

I am very glad to see him leave. What a jerk! If he was so wonderful, why would they let him go? If a product is fantastic, do you think it would be removed from the shelves. He was extremely racist and abrasive. He made Obama and Islam his obsession. Peace out Jeff, don’t let the doorknob hit ya on the way out!

  59. clayon 02 Dec 2008 at 11:54 pm

Jeff has got some serius issues. I just hope he doesnt try to get back into law enforcment. The thought of him in a position of power truely terrifies me. I think Tara is a smart girl but one thing sticks out in my mind every time I listen to her. When she first came on the air , one night she said while talking about charlotte traffic “why is it that when you are driving down the street a mexican will look you straight in the eye and pull out in front of you” . How does she know who’s mexican and what if she had said that about black people.

  60. Peteron 03 Dec 2008 at 12:26 am

Face it kids….Jeffy was not sacked as part of some left-wing conspiracy. Jeffy was sacked because he could not deliver the goods. Less advertisers were buying….less listeners were listening. He was a dullard. He was intellectually dishonest. He was inflammatory merely for the sake of being inflammatory. That said, I am not sure that I believe the whispers that he also had a penchant for young boys.

So….let’s move on to something we can all agree on. Jibril is a turd!

  61. slappyon 03 Dec 2008 at 12:29 am

It seems that the loss of freedom of speech, has claimed its first victem. Agree with Jeff or not, he has the constitutional right to say what he feels and thinks. if it is offensive to you then too bad ! I guess its true that you can have any oppinion you want as long as the left agrees with it. Whats next, the night of the long knives or kristalnacht…….. Maybee a good old fashioned book burning? ….political reducation camps?

  62. Brianon 03 Dec 2008 at 3:47 am

Conservatism has FAILED. The last 8 years have been a disaster! Thanks Republicans!

We are finally going to get LESS of the kind of radio that only a small percentage of people like. MOST Americans are much more liberal than conservative anyway. The Katz’s of the world are going to lose even more popularity once President Obama proves he wasn’t the horrible things the Rush wannabe’s said he was.

  63. Richon 03 Dec 2008 at 6:29 am

Hey Junaid , if Jeff had asked you to his synagogue, would you have accepted? Let’s be honest now… NO! And furthermore, he never insulted Muslims as a whole. He merely pointed out the evil and murderous terrorists who hide behind their twisted interpretation of your religion.

To say that Islamic terrorists are evil is the same as saying all Muslims are, therefore, evil is akin to saying Jim Jones was evil, therefore, all Christians are evil.

Any further remarks you make, however valid they may truly be, will be dismissed, wholesale, once you have devalued your credibility at the opening of your comment.

As for Jeff Katz. I listened from time to time. Hate to hear he was fired, but he will find another station soon. He was a bit brash for me, but he did not seem hateful, as many of you claim.

Tara… I like her opinions and the depths she will go to in bringing out a story. I just can’t listen to her dialog for very long. Her lack of formal broadcast training is too evident, and the choppy nature in which she delivers her broadcast causes me to feel stressed. She flounders for the correct word too often, and I just can’t handle that for any length of time. Smart? Yes. Industrious? Absolutely. Entertaining to listen to? Not on your life.

Wonder if WBT could ever forgive Michael Graham and rehire him? Probably not, but he is one of the best WBT ever had on.

  64. Matton 03 Dec 2008 at 7:43 am

Mark, you quote a part of the Bible and in the same breath condemn other Christians that don’t agree with you. There is a time for everything under the sun. I was about 40/60 when it came to agreeing with Jeff’s political views; but it appears that political correctness DOES seem to be overtaking our constitutional rights of freedom of speech. Why is it that the minority stays so vocal, yet the silent majority remains just that… silent?

  65. Jibrilon 03 Dec 2008 at 8:25 am

Freedom of Speech did not die with the firing of Jeff Katz. Katz claimed to champion free of speech, as long as he was the one spouting it. He would not allow those that opposed him (not only Muslims) to speak their peace. He feared being exposed for the fraud and coward that he truely was. I encourage discourse and I as a Muslim, I do not fear dialogue or to be questioned. But I do think in order to be productive, this should be done with a degree of class and respect, something that Katz, lacked.

  66. Ronon 03 Dec 2008 at 10:07 am

I first stumbled on 99.3 FM here in SC, and Jeff was on. I became an instant fan. I tried to listen to him everyday when I can pick him up. He said what people were thinking and enjoyed hearing him completely dismantle liberals’ arguements. I’d love to hear him sub for Rush sometime. This isn’t the last we’ll hear from him. I’m sad and will miss him

Tara’s ratings will fare no better. And all the Jibrils out there will be boycotting her soon enough. Mumbai. Mumbai. Goodbye.

  69. Beverlyon 03 Dec 2008 at 12:03 pm

Glad to see him go. I listened almost daily, just to raise my blood pressure, I suppose. Although more left-wing than right, I do enjoy listing to other people’s opinions and point’s of views and enjoy talk radio. Problem with Jeff is that he insulted those who had differing opinions–and the few times I called in, I felt patronized.

I considered many of Jeff’s comments incendiary. Emphasizing President elect Obama’s middle name over and over again was an attempt to frighten people. Who really cares what his middle name is? Jeff is a Jew. Should that frighten me because I am a Christian? Hardly.

Just as the nation voiced it’s opinion on who our next president will be, Charlotte has spoken, and Jeff’s time “in office” is over. Let a new era begin.

Tara will be a breath of fresh air.

  70. RadioGuruon 03 Dec 2008 at 12:30 pm

    Jibril –

Please spare us your further annoying diatribes. We’ve had to listen to your rediculous rantings for years on WBT. I remember laughing at your comments on BT during the Spires & Krantz days.

You say that Jeff Katz was a fraud and a coward? It is quite obvious that Jeff Katz is neither of these. His unapologetic speaking of the TRUTH is the opposite of fraudulent and his history of public service and support for police officers and military personnel puts your “coward” comment in the dumpster where it belongs.

You say, as a muslim, you “do not fear dialogue or to be questioned”. Well Jibril, the fact that worldwide terrorism is driven chiefly by muslim extremists is something that you aren’t apparently willing to hear. Whether you like it or not, muslim extremists are a problem. If you are as dialog friendly as you say and don’t share their hateful beliefs, then work to make a difference by changing the perception of muslims, but don’t try to waste your time attacking a messenger just because you don’t want to accept the truth of the message. The loss of Jeff Katz is not good for WBT, but the views he espoused on his show are not going anywhere – in fact they were here long before Katz was ever heard on WBT and they will be here forever.

  71. RadioGuruon 03 Dec 2008 at 12:45 pm

    Brian –

I’ve got news for you. Conservatism hasn’t failed. We haven’t had a conservative in office for the last eight years. We also did not have a conservative candidate that ran against Obama and that is why Obama won. Conservatism failed? You’re dreaming….and you’ll likely be weeping when a true conservative runs against Obama and defeats him in 2012.

  72. CCBeckon 03 Dec 2008 at 12:55 pm

“I don’t see Christians lining up to apologize for the Millions of people Christians have murdered in the name of God in the past 2000 years or apologizing for the Branch Davidians, or Timothy Mcveigh, etc. because that would be ridiculous. ”

Christians have loudly condemned those un-Christian actions. Muslims are silent when extremists murder innocent people in the name of their religion. Why is that? The only conclusion is that they support those actions.

  73. Jibrilon 03 Dec 2008 at 1:01 pm

Spires&Krantz was great radio. Glad to know that I made you laugh. Why are you not laughing now? It’s still funny how “Chickens come home to roost”.

  74. RadioGuruon 03 Dec 2008 at 1:06 pm

    Jibril,

There are no chickens and no roosting……I laugh all the time. Life is too short not to laugh. You, in particular, help me greatly in that regard.

  75. Markon 03 Dec 2008 at 3:34 pm

Jeff Katz was no champion of free speech. Jeff was a Champion of Hate and Hate wasn’t selling very well. The majority of people in the Charlotte area voted for Barack Obama. Get over it. The politics of Hate are a bygone era. The more hate so-called conservatives spew the stronger the Democratic Party gets. Conspiracy theories are for people in basements with tin foil on their heads to protect them from the government mind control. Grow up people. Jibril is one of the only people who actually tells the truth. If you hate him, you have never met him. Stop showing how ignorant you are.

  76. Joeon 03 Dec 2008 at 5:51 pm

Good bye WBT! No Jeff. I am changing the channel. For all of you not liking Jeff- what happened to freedom of speech???

  77. Jibrilon 03 Dec 2008 at 6:56 pm

Joe-You might want to ask the advertisers about ‘freedom of speech’. I hear that it isn’t free (at least not on the airways) and they were not buying it and listener’s were being turned off.

  78. Scotty Reidon 03 Dec 2008 at 9:19 pm

I am so glad to see Jeff Katz go. Does he need help buying a bus ticket back to San Fran.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear all the right wingers call in to express that they too felt Jeff Katz was way outline with his callers and his vitriolic rants. I do owe him a bit of thanks though. It is because of Jeff Katz and Jason Lewis that I started my own internet radio show about two years ago and now I run a non profit to promote ethical and responsible media.

You don’t have to be nasty to get your point across. If you are so sure you have your facts straight and you are not lying to your listeners, you do not have to over talk or hang up on callers. But people like Jeff are not interested in truth in dialogue. They are only interested in spewing propaganda and riling up folks.

The North Carolina political landscape is changing. I was even surprised that two Republican Senators were unseated and the state went for Barack Obama. BTW, I voted for Ron Paul in the primaries but could not vote for a person with a history like McCain and that Palin pick did not help things either.

Fact is, most people are moving towards the middle and maybe, just maybe we are moving away from vitriol that is displayed by people like Mike who felt it necessary in this thread to question if someone has a mommy or a daddy. That is why I am glad to see Katz go because he made these hate filled war mongers feel comfortable with being nasty cusses. Well I hope you do feel like your world is crashing in. The population is changing folks and need to stop clinging to your failed party of hate.

Maybe if the Republican party was more inclusive of other people instead of alienating people it would not be in ruins.

Great Day In Charlotte, Have a good life Mr. Katz.

    Scotty,
Excellent point! People are looking for a new way and a new day. They are tired of the old, played out way of Katz. Katz has had a history of wearing out his welcome with his hate talk and bigotry. With his recent firing, this legacy continues.

  82. cmitchzon 04 Dec 2008 at 4:11 am

I think Scotty was one of the “I really enjoy your radio station but I’m more of a moderate and X is just way out of line” seminar callers that talked to the WBT higher ups on Tuesday’s show.

Is it just me or are all of the seminar callers around here black guys?

  83. Scotty Reidon 04 Dec 2008 at 6:47 am

thanks for the info Mr. Parker. I am really interested in hearing Jeff’s side of the story. Thank you for your comments Jibril.

Yes cmitchz I am a moderate, was a independent but registered as a Republican recently. What is a “seminar caller”. Actually I did not get a chance to call into the show and offer my support to management.

As a Internet radio host, I make it my business to listen to all points of view but admittedly I can only stomach so much of Rush Limbaugh, after the first lie I turn it off. I gave up on Jeff a long time ago. He was only interested in hearing the views of his fawning fans.

I like Keith Larson because he isn’t a jersey wearer as he likes to say. I like John Hancock, he supported me when I first started my show and he even gave me promo time. I used to listen to Neil Boortz when he was on until he turned into another muslim hating neocon.

There is just no place for people like Jeff Katz on our airwaves. Think about what this type of discourse is teaching our children. I wrote a blog a long time ago called “The Murder of Manners and Professionalism in “Mainstream” Media”.

Excerpt: “There is no excuse for this type of behavior from these people no matter how many headlines it garners or how much publicity it brings. There are children and young adults witnessing the destruction of professionalism in journalism and the outright acceptance of rude behavior. Is this the road that we want our children to take when handling matters of disagreement. This poison is running deep in the veins of public discourse and a tourniquet needs to be applied by sensible Americans and left on so that the infected limb may be allowed to dry up and fall off.”

If you are interested in hearing the show I did on Jeff last night, go to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/blacktalkradio .

  84. Jibrilon 04 Dec 2008 at 9:09 am

    Scotty,
I tuned into your show on Jeff Katz’s firing. Great show and thanks for speaking up for the Muslims. As one of the most visible Muslims in the Charlotte area, I quickly became a target of Katz and his callers after he arrived into Charlotte. He attacked our faith, Prophet and Muslims in general in a way, that would not have been allowed if the script was flipped and someone was attacking his faith (which I doubt that he truely practices).
I offered to come on his show (early on), along with a real Islamic scholar to answer some of his claims about Islam and while his producer thought it was a good idea, Katz was not interested. He was afraid of being exposed and having Muslims and Islam being seen in any kind of a positive light.
Katz has a real agenda against Islam. It was not based on sarcasm or entertainment, it was real and devious…some might even say criminal. His talk had the potential to drive some right wing ignorant wackos over the edge, to possibly attack Muslims or worse. I’m glad that this did not happen.
Keep up the good work with your show.

  85. Jibrilon 04 Dec 2008 at 9:22 am

“Wake Up Everybody, No More Sleeping In Bed. No more backwards thinking, time for thinking ahead…” Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes said it so well, in this song. Let’s dedicate this tune to the firing of Jeff Katz and the change that this nation needs.

  86. Bryanon 04 Dec 2008 at 9:57 am

MAN!!! What has ever happened to free speech in this country? I dont hear anyone bi*&@ing about Russ Limbaugh, who in my opinion thinks he is God, Allah, or what ever he thinks he is!

It is sooooooooooooo very sad that people of other ethnicities can get a talk show host fired, because they dont like everything they hear. Face it, you chose to listen to that station, dont like what is being said, change the station and stop whinning so much. I am sure all the ILLEGAL (notice emphisis on ILLEGAL) Mexicans got their undies in a bunch when he called them “Illegal Mexican Invaders”……..Well, he speaks the truth, they have invaded this country ILLEGALLY!

Everyone wants to be “Equal”, so start acting like it and STOP acting like you are someone special that can stomp out eveyone else’s opinion when you dont like it.

    GET OVER IT!

PS- I am sure someone will e-mail the moderator to have this removed as it does not fit their opinion. So be it, you apparently can’t handle the truth.

  87. RadioGuruon 04 Dec 2008 at 10:18 am

You nailed it Bryan……all the comments here against Katz & BT are from those who can’t handle the truth.

I’ve gotten my daily laughs earlier today thanks to Jibril and the like-minded. These people are clueless and hopeless.

  88. Jibrilon 04 Dec 2008 at 12:24 pm

    Bryan,
This wasn’t about ‘free speech’. It was about exposing Katz for the hate monger and bigot that he was. He is free to expouse hate speech and people are free to expose him, boycott him, and advertisers have the right to know him for who he truely is-and stop spending their money to support such hate.
As a matter of fact, I even heard Katz call for similar boycotts against businesses that did not support his cause or beliefs. So, don’t be like Katz, and be a hypocrite.
Boycotts, exposing and opposing those that you feel need it, and similar forms of activism is just the ‘American way’. Don’t hate America, embrace it…it’s a beautiful thing.

  89. Terry,on 04 Dec 2008 at 9:20 pm

Since WBT has fired one of the best host they had. I will be listening to Sean on 1220 am from 3 to 6. Jeff thanks for some great hours of listening Best of luck may God Bless you and your family. This ends my listening to WBT radio.

  90. Matton 04 Dec 2008 at 10:57 pm

Jibril, you have no problem slinging the “hatemonger” and “bigot” words around, but have yet to respond directly to questions about radical muslims, denouncing terrorist actions and/or activities. Is it possible that you may have become what you stand against?
I am SO sick of those of you who think you’re entitled to everything because you have the incessant desire to be right in your beliefs and want the rest of us to lay it at your feet. Yes, you have the freedom of speech…. but simply put, I have the right to think you’re liberal morons in search of a life full of granola bars and rainbows. Life is hard for all of us. But those who adapt and overcome are called (fill in the blank)phobes.

  91. Scotty Reidon 05 Dec 2008 at 12:14 am

    Bryan,

According to WBT, no one got Jeff fired, he got himself fired because people were doing as you suggest, they were tuning off his show. Apparently it was more than just people who you say can’t handle the truth.

Did you not listen to the broadcast done by WBT management? People who agreed with his politics said they were tuning him out because of his nastiness and vitriol. Katz has bashed Muslims and Islam since he arrived in Charlotte, if managment had a problem with that then why wait two years to fire him? He was losing listeners as they stated, his numbers were not adding up, they made a business decision to fire him. It seems you and the others on here are the ones who can not handle the truth!

    Jibril,
I would like to have you on my show to discuss what you shared here about WBT agreeing to have you on and Jeff Katz declining. I would also like to talk about how we can heal the divide between people of faith created by people like Jeff Katz.
Islam is a coservative religion, in that respect I see more things in common with so-called conservative christians. In Hamtramck, Michigan recently we saw Catholics and Muslims ban together and “defeat a proposal that included Special “rights” based on homosexual behavior, cross-dressing defeated by vote of 2,903 to 2,333″.

    http://www.afamichigan.org/2008/11/08/americans-for-truth-hamtramck-voters-easily-reject-homosexual-ordinance-in-pro-obama-district/

So other than anti-Muslim propaganda spewed by messengers of hate, I see no reason for “conservatives” to act the way they do towards Islam.

You can contact me at scottyreid@blacktalkmediaproject.org should you accept.

    Best Regards

  92. Jibrilon 05 Dec 2008 at 8:36 am

    Scotty,
You make a real and valid connection between Muslims and many conservative Christians on values. The problem with the Republican party and many who claim ‘conservative values’ are their faces and spokespeople, in many cases are like Jeff Katz. They have been too divisive and bigoted towards Muslims. Just check some of the comments from right-wing pundits and politicians over the past several years. This is also the problem that the GOP has as a whole. They seem to stuck in TV Land, when television was black and white, Leave it to Beaver, etc. Do you remember the crowds at the GOP convention and many of the McCain/Palin rallies? They looked like a picture from the 1950’s with Ted Turner adding the color.
There are some bright spots in the GOP, like Ron Paul, but he doesn’t get the respect or support he deserves.
With that said, I also believe that not one political party holds exclusive rights to what we call values. There are values on the left/Democratic side that we hold as well.
As you know politics are a game of give and take, and sometimes you have to ‘get in where you fit in’. And over the past several years, their hasn’t been much room for Muslims to ‘fit in’ with the Republican Party.

Scotty Reid states, “Katz has bashed Muslims and Islam since he arrived in Charlotte, if managment had a problem with that then why wait two years to fire him?”

Sorry, Mr. Reid…that spin won’t work…..no one said that management had any problem with what Katz said on the air. Katz or any other host is responsible for the content of their show, not management.

Katz was fired because management bowed to pressure from a minority of listeners who could not and still can’t handle the truth of what Katz said on his show. It is FACT that radical Islamic (Muslim) groups are responsible and should be accountable for worldwide terrorism driven by hatred of anyone not espousing their beliefs. What unabashed idiocy that Jibril displays in talking about hatred, when it is those of the radical Islamic faith that are the real perveyors of hate. Katz’s statements were always targeted at radical Islamic extremists – NOT ALL muslims. Other muslims who do not agree with hate-filled muslim terrorists and are “peace-loving” still apparently don’t want to hear the truth.

The message transcends the messenger, but it is always easier to attack the messenger than face the truth of the message and that is why Katz was dismissed.

  94. Junaidon 05 Dec 2008 at 6:06 pm

Anyway I am inviting all of you’ll including Katz to our mosque and have a healthy discussion or you can call us to your church. We talk face to face and clear the misconceptions.

There were many like Katz before and the religion is still spreading, I respect all humans and religions. Same with Christianity, that is still spreading too and so are others. I am just happy Katz is gone for what ever reason. God gave him a talent and a powerfull mdeium, but he chose to spread hatred. If you meet him please ask him to meet the muslim community or call some from the community to his church or his place and we discuss.

Also someone said he was in Iraq and was shot etc. heck you were in a war zone, what do you expect. But I salute him for fighting for our country.

  95. Markon 05 Dec 2008 at 6:46 pm

Its a sad fact, but the conservative movement is dead. The Democrats won by promising Tax Cuts and the party of the “Conservatives” wanted nothing to do with it. There is no Conservative Party. Its now the Anti-Abortion Racist Party. Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave. lol

  96. Kenon 05 Dec 2008 at 9:11 pm

Katz should have been fired a long time ago and anyone who says he is not anti-Muslim must not have been listening for the last year or perhaps you gave him a sympathetic ear, the key part of that phrase being pathetic. He was boring, condescending and if he didn’t have a mute button, he would completely loose control of his program every day. Those of us who USED to listed to WBT during the afternoon timeslot labeled him “Mr. mute button” and stopped listening a long time ago. How WBT could have ever replaced a fair and balanced Jason Lewis with this clown is beyond me. I’m sure he is in Colorado laughing out loud. Farewell to the wannabe shock jock incapable of even creating a spark…….

  97. Jon Layneon 06 Dec 2008 at 10:41 am

I stopped listening to Jeff a long time ago. I had been on the air with him several times and every time he distorted, or lied about what I had said. He cut me off when he knew that he would be proven wrong. Good riddance.

  98. Jibrilon 06 Dec 2008 at 11:53 am

In the end, Katz was the reason for his own demise. The blame is own his shoulder’s. He offended many people and groups, from Muslims, immigrants, Obama supporters to even some Conservatives. His arrogance and disrespect for his listener’s contributed greatly to his downfall.
Ken, I agree that Jason Lewis was much more fair with his listener’s than Katz. Instead of alienating his listener’s, he would engauge them and get them to think and perhaps adjust or change a given position. Lewis had a degree of class with his presentation of Conservative thought, unlike Katz.

  99. Nickon 11 Dec 2008 at 5:05 pm

I emailed Katz, Rick and Bill months ago and told them WBT, Katz and their call screeners were driving listeners away from the station. Basicaly I told that I needed to listen to WFAE. So I did and I really like it. I have found that by not listeneing to WBT (and listening to WFAE and the Ride) I am less srtessed, better informend and back in touch with some really cool music.

Rick and Bill: I told you so and thank you for the advice. I suggest others follow suit.

  100. Katsnjammerkidon 11 Dec 2008 at 5:46 pm

Charlotte radio, we can just about forget it because it’s brightest star is no longer with us. Jeff Katz got fired, I said incredulously when I fist heard. Well it’s not a joke at all and allegedly because he was abrasive? Are you kidding? Abrasivie is an essential part of the formula for a talk show host. And Jeff was good at it as he was at many things in the realm of broadcasting. He was not only smart, he was very fast on his feet and articulate. Now all the idiots who would never have dared to call in when Jeff was on the air have become brave and are posting their opinions.
Best of all they say that Jeff was anti-Muslim. Well God bless him. Has everybody forgotten 09/11? If you think that Islam means no harm and it just a few ne’er-do-wells. Well, let me direct your eyes to the Koran. In it you will read that the eventual outcome for those who refuse conversion in an Islamic state is DEATH! That’s right. Don’t believe me? Good, now go read for yourselves.

  101. Markon 11 Dec 2008 at 7:09 pm

Katsnjammerkid is a classic example of the kind of wackos that WBT tends to attract now. He was happy Jeff Katz was a bully and attacked people because of their religion. Freedom of religion of a cornerstone of our nation. Jeff Katz also took great joy in making hateful comments about plight of the poor and immigrants and even the elderly. Jeff Katz got himself fired. I think Katsnjammerkid has the public airwaves mistaken for one of his KKK or Nazi Youth meetings.

  102. Jibrilon 12 Dec 2008 at 10:19 am

Katskid, Many callers who disagreed with Katz (like myself) did call in, but it was Katz who did not have the courage to take our calls. When he did take a call from someone ready to take him to task, he would cut them off or talk over them. When Katz first took the air, he claimed that he would use a policy of those who called in with differing opinions would be put on first, ahead of the others. Those of us who listened to the show know that he soon trashed that idea, most likely for the fear of being exposed.

  103. Cecilon 14 Dec 2008 at 1:59 am

    Tara is Booooring….

  104. Cecilon 14 Dec 2008 at 2:09 am

If Tara bores you to tears, I suggest 1220am during that slot. If you like Tara I suggest theses books on tape – Knitting 101, ABCs of stamp collecting, or anthing written by mecklenburg county school board which is what she’s reading on the air mostly anyway.

  105. Junaidon 15 Dec 2008 at 7:36 pm

agree, Tara was perfect at nights, infact she is a cure for insomia. lol

  106. OIF Veton 15 Dec 2008 at 10:14 pm

it’s about time we get some of this garbage off the air. I use to call myself a reagan democrat, but came to understand that the Conservative movement is nothing but smoking mirrors. Just fess up, the guy sucked and was wroing most of the time. moving on.

  107. Bane Windlowon 16 Dec 2008 at 1:51 pm

OIF, I agree. Reagan conservatism has been replaced with neoconservatism. The neocons need to be excised from the GOP like the cancerous tumors they are.

  108. Susanon 30 Dec 2008 at 12:13 am

WBT first mistake was loosing Jason Lewis. I did enjoy Jeff Katz and listened often, but, Jason is hard to beat. Tara is a good investigative reporter but I don’t enjoy her shows. I have also moved to 1220 am and back for Hancock.

  109. Mr Nobodyon 31 Dec 2008 at 9:30 am

I always enjoyed his show. People that did not like him were usually the ones that called in and could not defend their point of view because it had no foundation. Jeff truly told it how it was and did not care who didnt like what he was saying. His dismissal does not surprise me. The Non-American was elected to the presidency and since WBT’s license is regulated by the feds they need to make sure they are able to keep it…so they got rid of those who might make waves with the liberals at the FCC and in power. God save this damned nation…we are in for a rocky road.

  110. Susanon 04 Jan 2009 at 9:54 am

Best of luck to Jeff and I wish the best for his family. Hope he moves on to a station with more integrity and can stand behind their convictions. Bad move WBT. He will be missed.

  111. Sherion 20 Jan 2009 at 5:40 pm

Jeff Katz was the best of the line-up. A great loss for WBT. Sara is aweful, we might as well call her a RINO!! no mome will I listen to WBT.

  112. Bane Windlowon 20 Jan 2009 at 10:06 pm

    Who is Sara?

  113. bonnieon 21 Jan 2009 at 9:55 am

Tara is a horrible talk show host. She is so awful and must have taken lessons from Jeff Katz. Cuts people off or hangs up on them. I hear her insulting those who had differing opinions. The ride home is no longer pleasant when Tara is on the air. Time to change the channel…………again

  114. Dect1on 29 Jul 2009 at 4:09 am

Katz was a great one! I used to listen to his podcast but lost track of him when he moved to Carolina. I went looking for him and found out he had been fired! Okay! Listeners will stick with him, not WBT. Anyone know where I can find his podcasts?

  115. daleon 30 Jul 2009 at 10:40 am

Why in the hell would anyone care what Katz said anyway?

Are your heads so empty of original thought that someone else’s OPINION matters to you?

Form your own opinion from facts. That will serve you better in the long term (you can always tell, unless you are intellectually lazy yourself, those who substitute other’s opinions for their own thoughts. We are such a mentally lazy country!)
