I’m Bill Purcell, and I Know Better

A bill would ban a hallucinogenic plant native to Mexico.

The legislation filed by Democratic Sen. Bill Purcell of Laurinburg today would add Salvia divinorum to the list of Schedule I drugs, the toughest standard in North Carolina.

Purcell said he became concerned after hearing about people using the herb who became violent or suicidal. He said it appears to be more commonly used in the western part of the state.

“Methamphetamine got out of control before we did anything about that,” he said. “I’m hoping we can do something sooner this time.”

The N&O

And the Big Government Parade of Stupid marches on. I guess here in North Carolina, you don’t own your body, or have the intelligence to make your own decisions. Bill Purcell owns your body, and by God he’s gonna make those decisions for you, because only HE knows what’s best. After all… he’s a Senator.

Bane had a post last year regarding South Carolina’s efforts to ban this stuff. I guess it must be popular. Maybe I should try some before it’s too late… I need a break from the reality that articles like this provide me.
