Fascism Comes to N.C; State House Passes Rights-Killing Smoking Ban

Private property rights? Hah! You old-fashioned rube. Don’t you know that the smart people in government get to determine your rights now? Now shut up and go along with it.

The House adopted a bill today that would ban smoking in restaurants and workplaces across the state.

The bill would not ban smoking in most bars. It cleared the House 72 to 45 and now moves to the Senate.

The N&O

Eighteen Fascists-with-Values (Republicans who don’t give a damn about rights or freedoms, but talk a good game about “values”) voted for this monstrosity, including House Minority Leader Paul Stam. Shame on you, Paul.

Introducing the first ever edition of a new project here on CPO- Dead Republican Walking:

As the legislative session continues, every time some RINO votes for a rights-killing bill, we’ll update the chart so you know which “Republicans” ought to be “Dead Republicans Walking” in 2010.

In the meantime, this bill is heading towards the state senate, where there is still a chance to kill it. Call your state senator and let them know that you don’t want to see them on the senate version of the above list.

It be nice if you got your facts right before make a fool of yourself and blame someone of something. The smoking ban bill primary sponser is the same Demoract that has introduced in it the previous three sessions.

    Shame on you!

According to this page on the NCGA website, Barnhart is listed with three others as a primary sponsor:

Wow. I sent money to Justin Burr for his candidacy. This really pisses me off.

After over a year of experience here in Chicago, now that the fanfare has worn off and the lobbyists have moved on to other states, it’s clearly obvious that trying to ban smoking in small neighborhood “shot and beer” bars is pretty useless. Many small bars in my area ignore the ban to keep their customers, neighbors, and local police (many are patrons when off duty) satisfied. In areas where real crime is an issue, the problem of undesirables being attracted by groups of people outside the bars and causing disturbances on the PUBLIC street, property that the owner has no control over, far outweighs the issue of people peacefully smoking inside a bar, bothering absolutly no one, All of the complaints are from neighbors of bars that comply. It’s fading into history in many small neighborhood bars. The only places it becomes an issue seems to be in rural areas where local police have little to do except visit local bars and monitor their parking lots.

Hey, C M, get a clue before you waste everyone’s time posting on here. Hugh Holliman may have been the primary sponsor, but there are four sponsors of the bill, Barnhart being one of them.

There are several co-sponsors of the bill as well.

If this is too complicated for you to understand, I suggest you get your internet enjoyment elsewhere.
