Paul Terrell wants Real Change for NC House 33.

People have asked me why I am running for the State House 33 seat in the North Carolina legislature.
I have to respond that “We are losing our freedom and God given rights on a daily basis”.

People ask me why in a state so dominated by the Democratic Party why I am running as a Republican.
I have to respond that “My core principles are a best fit in the Republican Party. It is apparent with the level of corruption and quid pro quo that is happening in North Carolina, we are corrupt only second to Illinois”. Let me be blunt, the Democratic Party leadership is responsible.

I have been asked what we can do about jobs in North Carolina. I have been asked what we can do about returning this state and District 33 back to prosperity.
First we need to reduce the tax burden on the small businesses and people who are the spenders in this capitalist society. And at the same time we need to go back to zero based budgeting. It is common sense to only budget what we NEED and what we can AFFORD as a state.

Another question that has come up is the Defense of Marriage act.
Unlike my opponents I am fearless when it comes to defending marriage being defined as the union of one woman and one man at one time. This is especially important in District 33. I will put any opponent I face next year in the spotlight concerning this issue.

I have been asked about forced annexation and property rights in this state.
Those two issues are both separate and connected in some way. The municipalities are allowed to annex without reservations any blocks of unincorporated land in their zone of influence. And the Supreme Court allows a government to take from you to give to another private entity. These are both issues where we need to pass laws not allowing either one of these issue without those citizens approving it.

I have been asked about redistricting and how that will affect us in the future.
Republicans have to win the State House and or State Senate next year. And we need the help of independents and Conservative Democrats next year. Not winning is not an option. Gerrymandering, some of which has been struck down by the courts, disenfranchises many voters.

How are Republicans going to win?
We need the grassroots volunteers and most of all we need money. $20 dollars from many people will add up for us state level candidates, and donations of $100 will be critical. In my case I can expect my opponent to raise close to $50,000. My campaign as an example will need at a minimum of $20,000 to get out the mailers to like minded voters before the election. If 1,000 people gave $20 or even 500 gave $40 that would equal the minimum.

I am enthusiastic about the results of the School Board elections in Wake County. It was a bipartisan effort by everyone along the entire political spectrum that brought change to our schools. Unlike the current House 33 seat holder, I will be on a mission to do what is right for all of House 33’s citizens. Listening to the citizens will be my first priority.

What ‘freedoms’ and god-given rights’ have we lost in the past few days? I hate when people use mindless and meaninless statements, especially those catch-phrase. button-pushing ones used by politicians. (Be honest. It will shock the electorate.) If you cannot say it in all honesty it is simply horseshift. Personally I believe it to be naive blather.

You say: ” . . . . First we need to reduce the tax burden on . . . people who are the spenders in this capitalist society.” Why do you say that? They are currently living at one of the lowest levels of taxation in the past 50 years. To him who much is given, much is expected. The ’spenders’ you mention produced nothing real with their wealth in the past 20 years. They were allowed to gut the economy and devalue the currency.

You say: “. . . . Another question that has come up is the Defense of Marriage act.
Unlike my opponents I am fearless when it comes to defending marriage being defined as the union of one woman and one man at one time. This is especially important in District 33.”
Why ‘especially important in District 33′? What is your agenda? Is it honorable or simply a ‘lapel pin’? What is it about this issue that makes you so ‘fearless’; what is there to fear?

How will republicans be any different when redistricting? What will you do differently?

Honest questions in an open forum. You don’t get free space like this often, Terrell.

Well, Terrell, you are as responsive as a republican legislator. If this is what you have to offer, NOTHING, I’d say we’ve already had enough of your type in government already.

Dale calls the top 1% paying over 50% of all income taxes the lowest taxation in our history. Are you a socialist or a marxist. Seriously, we have the bottom 50% paying close to zero and in some cases getting more back than what they pay in. Some have proposed a tax where everyone pays a set % of there income. Others have proposed a consumer tax only at the point of purchase.

You do not seem to understand basic economics. If you tax someone enough they will simply stop earning. That means all of those consumer type goods that person was buying stops. And a chain reaction follows that causes people to lose jobs. And the government cannot collect taxes when there is not any. Do you truly believe that them being succesful caused you not to be? Talk about jealousy. Remember how many lost jobs when the luxury tax under Clinton was enacted?

And Dale you may have time to troll the BLOG boards, I do not. You see I am too busy earning enough to pay my taxes. I am that middle class taxpayer who wants the government to get out of his pocket. Trying to stop the big bad government from spreading my wealth.

    Terrell:

Thank you for proving my point.

You posted your political stance here, a forum specifically designed for discussion of posted matter. And then you bitch about not having the ‘time to troll the BLOG boards’ and answer legitimate questions when I asked for clarification on your positions. You not only ignored the questions you attacked me and then blathered on about Reaganomics – they didn’t work to the benefit of the majority of the people then, only the most wealthy. You are only polishing a turd. Reaganomics won’t work this time, either. Remember the Bush tax cuts? For the wealthy. And where are we now? Back to the 1920’s with a huge gap between the wealthy and the average man- and it isn’t because the ‘poor’ aren’t willing to work. Apparently you have no understanding of economics or history.

It is sad you see yourself as an agent of change when the only thing you see is your personal benefit.

I don’t expect a civil discussion with you any longer and will refrain from addressing you in the future.
