Nikki Haley Comes to Rock Hill

nikki-haley

It’s always a privilege to have a candidate come visit us in York County because so few do despite the fact we are one of the fastest growing counties in the state.  Tonight I had the pleasure of being able to meet State Representative Nikki Haley, the woman I am supporting to be our next governor here in South Carolina.  She gave a great speech and entertained many thoughtful questions from the audience.  Her answers only reinforced why I am supporting her candidacy.

On tax reform she wishes to eliminate the small business income tax and the personal income tax in order to spur investment in the state by attracting more businesses and people.  To address our current and possible future deficits, she intends to audit every state agency to weed our waste and institute spending caps on the state government, much like the workings of Colorado’s TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights).

She addressed the issues of education and unemployment.  South Carolina needs to put a larger focus on technical schools around the state so that unemployed residents and non-college bound adults can get trained in skilled professions that pay well.  Such an initiative will bring manufacturing jobs back to our state and lower unemployment in some of the poorest counties in our state, like Allendale, Chester, etc.

What struck me the most, however, was her commitment to Federalism and pushing back against the dangerous growth of government we have been seeing in Washington D.C. for several years now.  Haley intends to put together a coalition of governors from around the country who will stand shoulder to shoulder and fight the unconstitutional and unfunded mandates being forced on the states by the Federal government. Ah, this was music to my ears.  I’ve always gotten frustrated by the fact that the states will bellyache about being bullied by the Feds, but never do anything about it.  I’ve always thought how easy it would be to stop this unconstitutional infringement of the Tenth Amendment by just a dozen or so governors getting together and saying, “You know what?  We’re not going to do it!”  The publicity it would garner and the support from the American people it would spark would be effective.

Nikki Haley has proven to be a reformer in the state legislature so when she says she is committed to these ideals I believe her.  She has walked the walk.  She is up against some strong competition in the primary, but she has proven to not be small potatoes herself.  I think she can succeed in this endeavor and become a governor that will be responsible to the people of this state.

In response to “Gosh”, you obviously did not attend the presentation or if you did you either didn’t listen or were unable to comprehend what Nikki was saying. She is an intelligent, forward thinking, dedicated woman who will help bring our state off of the bottom in national rankings in so many areas like education, employment, etc. Open your mind to her ideas – really listen the next time you have an opportunity to see her speak.

p.s. also, the proper word to use would be ‘meet’ not meat.

I love York County! I was there over the weekend as a matter of fact!

I see you’ve discovered Nikki Haley–probably the most down-to-earth and earnest politician you’ll ever meet.

She’s one of us. Folks who meet her in person find this out very quickly. Her outrage is our outrage. Her reactions to corrupt good ol’ boy government is ours as well.

When she got into the legislature she was ASHAMED of what she found out was going on. No doubt she saw all the pigs feeding at the trough and, instead of joining them, decided to continue to walk upright like the real and honest human being that she is.

I can honestly say that I, one of the MOST cynical citizens of South Carolina when it comes to politicians, have found her to be good to her word and responsive as my representative in the general assembly. She has answered every email and in a way that I know she actually read and understood exactly what I was talking about as well as the bills or other information contained therein. She is sharp–very intelligent, fiscally conservative, with a winning personality, and as principled as anyone I’ve ever met.

Folks, people like this, much less someone who is one of us and as principled and concerned over the condition of our state and country, do NOT come along every day.

I pray that y’all will help her out. She won her present seat on a shoestring budget and after wearing out a lot of shoe leather. She’s going to do the same running for governor but she needs and will responsibly and carefully use every dime she can get.

Please go to her website: http://www.nikkihaley.com/ and click on the red contribute rectangle on the right. Give whatever you can with your credit card–just a little or a lot. She is very frugal and your money will go a looong way in her campaign.

I’m ashamed to say that I don’t make nor have much money. I am what is considered the “working poor.” I scrimped and saved and did without some things for a several months and managed to send her $1000.00.

You do NOT have to send her that much but I know a lot of you can and, either way, it’s time for us regular folks out here to put our money where are hearts are. We need a working class hero like Nikki Haley as governor to fight the petty tyrants in the general assembly. YOU can do it!

$5.00 or $20.00 is really not much nowadays. Why not go right now and donate? The more folks who show their participation in her campaign this way will only help build the momentum to get her into office.

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way connected with Nikki’s campaign besides, obviously, promoting her on blogs and donating some money to her effort. I have simply been motivated by her actually having done something real to fight the crooks in the general assembly on our behalf unlike every other candidate in the race.
