I’m Liking Rob Miller

Democratic U.S. House candidate Rob Miller proposed slashing Congressional pay and perks, part of a plan to win back voter trust.

Miller’s plan would also cut federal spending by 3 percent to 5 percent, exempting military, veteran’s affairs and homeland security budgets.

“Hard working South Carolinians, men and women, have lost faith in Washington,” Miller said. “Everybody is tightening their belts. It’s long past time for Congress to lead the way.”

Miller’s plan would cut Congressional pay by 10 percent, and he said he would reject any raise until the federal budget is balanced. Miller would also eliminate Congressional perks, such as cars, cell phones and some paid mail, known as franking.

The State

Gutsy plan.  Very gutsy, but I’m liking it.  Words are one thing, though.  The real question is what is Miller’s plan to build a consensus in Congress to get this achieved?  Can he get 217 other members of the House and 51 members of the U.S. Senate to take a ten percent pay raise?  I’m skeptical.  I do think, however, that the proposed three to five percent cuts in Federal spending are fairly realistic, but even that is a tall order.  We know how the Congress critters love to spend other peoples’ money.  Nevertheless, these goals will not be achieved without members of Congress who will push for them.  You get one elected here and one elected there and eventually you have the numbers you need.  If Rob Miller were to stay true to his word it puts us one step closer to some type of reform.

Sorry Bane but ANY Democrat elected to Congress is a vote for Pelosi or Reid. It would also be a continuation of our slide into a marxist/socialist hole. A example would be Stupak.

All that means nothing if he’d vote for even a fraction of the crap that’s in the platform of his execrable party. Would he vote for cap and trade? Obamacare? Amnesty for illegal aliens? Funding for abortions? The DISCLOSE Act? Etc. etc. …

Bottom line, if this guy were a true fiscal reformer, he wouldn’t even be a Demcorat, because as anyone who pays attention knows, the Democrats won’t even let that stuff out of committee when they’re in control.

This is the same Rob Miller that supports Obamacare and Pelosi for Speaker. Additionally, Joe Wilson has already supported larger spending reductions.

Now that Democrats are seeing their power slip away were suppose to believe that they’re going to suddenly become fiscal conservatives. Not likely.

Sure, it’s nice to say this guy has a plan and he’s different from other Democrats. And maybe he is.

But talk is cheap in politics. But if he’s the lesser of the two evils come election day …

All the above comments come from those who would apparently vote republican simply because the other choice is a democrat. There isn’t a well-thought-out comment from any of you. You’re just a bunch of party hacks.

It is the wilful ignorance displayed by these types that allow piss-poor politicians to regularly be reelected. You deserve what you have gotten.

You sure told us, Dale. (BTW, your mama is a party hack.)

I guess we should support Democrats who throw out one token conservative position just to fool enough people into electing them – seems to work for you.

*That* is exactly the kind of thinking that gave us our current Congress – the most liberal Congress in history. If it weren’t for all of these fake ‘conservative’ and ‘moderate’ Democrats, Pelosi and Reid wouldn’t be in power (although I’m sure you’re fine with them being in power, I’m speaking over your head to those who can think clearly).

    PffT! My mamma’s dead, Jackass.

You can’t even read what I wrote but still you act as though you understood. I never said we should support democrats who throw out one token conservative position (please re-read what I actually said). I assume reading comprehension wasn’t a strong point of your education.

And restating my point, ” It is the willful ignorance displayed by these types that allow piss-poor politicians to regularly be reelected’ in your own words and calling it an argument against me doesn’t qualify as a refutation. It’s more of an agreement with my statement. You assume to think I am a democrat or approve of the current congress (from your comment) as a means to find a point of disagreement with me. That is a poor assumption and why you fit with the group mentioned in my previous email: willfully ignorant- you choose to see what you wish based on your need to see it as such.

By the way, the only folks you may possibly be speaking over the heads of are in a cemetery. And some of them probably could take you on, head to head.

You wouldn’t make it through a class of mine.
