Clyburn Won’t Vote for Greene

Gotta give the guy some  credit for standing on principle.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina is saying that he will not be voting for his party’s nominee for U.S. Senate because the candidate has been indicted on a felony charge.

Clyburn said Wednesday that a vote for fellow Democrat Alvin Greene would be an insult to his three daughters and granddaughter. Greene is accused of showing pornographic images to a female University of South Carolina student

Citizens Against Government Waste Release 2009 Rankings

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is a taxpayer watchdog group that for years has been tracking and monitoring the wasteful spending being undertaken by our members of Congress. When I say waste I mean real waste, things that most all of us regardless of political ideology and views could likely agree on. Wasted spending like $1,454,000 for mosquito trapping research or $2,573,000 for potato research. Better yet, right here in our own backyard, UNC Charlotte received $762,000 for interactive dance software.

CAGW has a searchable database containing the 9,129 pork-barrel projects in the 2010 Congressional Pig Book. They also do a ranking of every member of Congress with a score of 100 indicating a taxpayer superhero and a score of 0 being a wasteful taxpayer abuser. Unfortunately, here in the Carolinas we have several big fat zeros. That list is below:

Senator Party State Score
Richard Burr R NC 92
Kay Hagan D NC 8
Jim DeMint R SC 97
Lindsey Graham R SC 91

Representative Party State District Score
G.K. Buttefield D NC 01 0
Bob Etheridge D NC 02 0
Walter Jones R NC 03 51
David Price D NC 04 0
Virginia Foxx R NC 05 99
Howard Coble R NC 06 89
Mike McIntyre D NC 07 5
Sue Myrick R NC 08 95
Patrick McHenry R NC 09 99
Heath Shuler D NC 10 8
Mel Watt D NC 11 0
Brad Miller D NC 12 0
Henry Brown R SC 01 48

ObamaCare Resulting in Limited Choice of Doctors

Gee, nobody saw this coming.

The plans, being tested in places like San Diego, New York and Chicago, are likely to appeal especially to small businesses that already provide insurance to their employees, but are concerned about the ever-spiraling cost of coverage.

But large employers, as well, are starting to show some interest, and insurers and consultants expect that, over time, businesses of all sizes will gravitate toward these plans in an effort to cut costs.

The tradeoff, they say, is that more Americans will be asked to pay higher prices for the privilege of choosing or keeping their own doctors if they are outside the new networks. That could come as a surprise to many who remember the repeated assurances from President Obama and other officials that consumers would retain a variety of health-care choices.

The New York Times

Shocking, eh?  No, not that this is happening.  It’s shocking that there were people in this country stupid enough to actually believe the President’s lies about being able to keep their current health coverage and doctor.  As ObamaCare slowly unfolds more people are figuring out just how badly we got bent over by our “representatives” in D.C.  Oh, and let us not forget who it was that brought this on us by voting in favor of ObamaCare.

SLED Clears Greene

So it would appear that Alvin Greene really did pay his own filing fee for the Senate race.

You may recall Greene says he paid the $10,440 filing fee to run for Senate out of money he saved from his time in the Army.

But just months before paying that he was assigned a public defender at taxpayer expense on an obscenity charge he’s facing.

SLED director Reggie Lloyd says there’s no evidence that anyone other than Greene paid his filing fee and that he didn’t lie to get a public defender.

WSPA

I wonder when Jim Clyburn will apologize to Greene for accusing him of being a plant.

Pratt Wins 6th District Recount

Congressional candidate Jim Pratt won the Republication nomination in a recount in which he was certified as the winner over Nancy Harrelson by 111 votes.  Pratt will now face Congressman Jim Clyburn in the November election.  Harrelson ran against Clyburn in 2008  Clyburn handily defeated her, receiving 67.5% of the vote.  The district is a gerrymander special, carved out to specifically elect a black Democrat.  It encompasses the cities of Columbia, Florence, Sumter, and North Charleston.  The Cook Partisan Voting Index scores this seat as D+12 which puts it pretty handily in the Democrats’ column.  Although it’s not impossible for there to be an upset, especially with all the anti-incumbent angst this year, I don’t expect to see Mr. Clyburn leaving Washington.

House Passes Disclose Act

Do you remember a month ago when I warned you about a piece of legislation called the Disclose Act?  Well, it passed the U.S.  House about an hour and a half ago.  Just to recap the dangers this bill presents:

The point of the legislation would be to force corporations sponsoring a political ad to disclose their identity, even to the extreme of the CEO having to appear at the end of the ad in a disclaimer.  However, it’s the more ominous language in the bill that has raised the eyebrows of those in the blogosphere and questioning if this legislation could unconstitutionally impact us as well.  The issue is with the language.

Under the bill, the F.E.C. would have the authority to require disclosures regarding the funding of “coordinated communications,” defined in the bill as “a publicly distributed or disseminated communication that refers to a clearly identified candidate for Federal office” and is publicly distributed or disseminated within four months prior to an election. In other words, political ads. And this bill would specifically target those paid for by someone or some entity other than the candidates.

The bill specifically exempts certain forms of media from being considered “coordinated communications” and regulated by it, but blogs aren’t specifically listed.

OpenCongress

And that is what is sounding the alarm.  Here is the language of the bill stating who exceptions apply to.

‘(4) EXCEPTION- The term ‘covered communication’ does not include—

‘(A) a communication appearing in a news story, commentary, or editorial distributed through the facilities of any broadcasting station, newspaper, magazine, or other periodical publication, unless such facilities are owned or controlled by any political party, political committee, or candidate;

There is no mention of blogs in the list of communication and there is no language specifically exempting the communication of a private individual like myself and others who write Web sites like this.

It’s uncertain if this bill will make it through the Senate. After all, as the saying goes the Senate is the place where legislation goes to die. If they do pass it then we have an open door to Stalinism right here in the United States.  Think it’s out of the question that the Federal government couldn’t abuse this law to shut down Web sites like this one and others that they feel are a threat to their power just like they do in countries like Iran, China, and Singapore?  Think again.

The following Congressmen from North and South Carolina voted for this bill today:

  • Bob Etheridge (D-NC-02)
  • David Price (D-NC-04)
  • Larry Kissell (D-NC-08)
  • Heath Shuler (D-NC-11)
  • Brad Miller (D-NC-13)
  • John Spratt (D-SC-05)
  • Jim Clyburn (D-SC-06)

The following members voted against the act to preserve freedom of speech:

  • G.K. Butterfield (D-NC-01)
  • Walter Jones (R-NC-03)
  • Virginia Foxx (R-NC-05)
  • Howard Coble (R-NC-06)
  • Mike McIntyre (D-NC-07)
  • Sue Myrick (R-NC-09)
  • Patrick McHenry (R-NC-10)
  • Mel Watt (D-NC-12)
  • Joe Wilson (R-SC-02)
  • Bob Inglis (R-SC-04)

Clyburn Now Alleges Voting Machines Were Hacked

Jim Clyburn is making a fool out of himself in the media, but what else is new?

Hackers must be behind Senate candidate Alvin Greene’s victory in the South Carolina Democratic primary last week, Rep. James Clyburn claimed in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday.

Trying to account for how a candidate who had no money and no campaign infrastructure was able to pull out a victory over a well-funded local lawmaker in a statewide race, the powerful South Carolina Democrat said the touch-screen voting machines used by the state are notoriously unreliable. Without citing evidence, Clyburn said the voting machines could have been compromised.

“I believe there was some hacking done into that computer,” Clyburn told Fox News, suggesting that somebody at the state could have deliberately bought those machines so that the system would be vulnerable. South Carolina uses a machine called the iVotronic.

“Maybe somebody wanted the machines that were easily hacked into … We had no business with those machines in South Carolina,” he said.

Fox News

The Democrats are revealing their true colors to the public over this election.  The wealthy, politically anointed elitist lost to average Joe American and therefore fraud must be at hand.  Regular average Americans like all of us are way too stupid to serve as elected representatives of this republic and the political elite who know better than us must stop this election at all costs.  Was it not the Democratic Party that screamed how every vote should count after the 2004 Presidential election?  Now the same aristocracy can’t handle the fact they were rejected by the people and so now those votes should be thrown out.  Apparently, only every vote should count as long as we vote for the approved people.

Where is the proof, Congressman Clyburn, that the voting machines were hacked?  Oh, you mean there isn’t any?

The State election Commission rejected that theory on Tuesday. Chris Whitmire, spokesman for the commission, said the department has not detected even a hint of fraud or hacking in Tuesday’s election and dismissed the charge that the system is not dependable.

“We’ve used this voting system since 2004 and it has always performed as it is designed to perform and it’s been accurate and reliable,” he told FoxNews.com. Whitmire said the 12,000 machines used by South Carolina have been used for “thousands of candidates” and that “no candidate has made this claim before.”

Clyburn: Alvin Greene is “Someone’s Plant”

Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) is suggesting that the circumstances of Alvin Greene’s victory in the South Carolina Democratic Senate primary Tuesday are suspicious and should be investigated by the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The world of politics was caught off guard by Greene’s victory — and was further shocked yesterday when news surfaced that the unknown, 32-year-old, unemployed veteran faces pending felony charges.

Questions immediately arose about the legitimacy of Greene’s candidacy. While Greene insists he is the real deal, Clyburn, a high-ranking Democrat from South Carolina, is still skeptical.

“There were some real shenanigans going on in the South Carolina primary,” Clyburn said this morning on the liberal Bill Press radio show, the Hill notes. “I don’t know if he was a Republican plant; he was someone’s plant.”

CBS News

What’s there to investigate?  The guy got almost 60% of the vote!  Is Clyburn trying to claim voter fraud?  Republican voter fraud in the Democratic primary?  He gives the GOP way too much credit.

Greene was interviewed on the radio this morning by Keith Larson on WBT in Charlotte and oh, man…..  This guy really is a “green” candidate, no pun intended.  Public speaking is not his forte.  He stammered and stuttered, refused to address the legal charges pending against him, and sounded like a  nervous high school kid giving a speech in class for the first time.  He did seem to have some knowledge on the issues when he got into those, but when it came to addressing his personal baggage it was like asking your six year old who left the toy car on the stairs that you just slipped on and he “doesn’t know” how it got there even though he is the only kid in the house.

Primary Election Recap

There were no real surprises in the big races last night.  The elections pretty much came down the way the recent polling said it would.

In the Republican gubernatorial primary State Representative Nikki Haley came up just short of the 50% needed to avoid a run off election.  With 48.9% of the vote she will go on to face Congressman Gresham  Barrett who she beat by a more than two to one margin last night.  Hopefully that’s a sign of what’s to come in the run off.  On the Democratic side, State Senator Vincent Sheheen won a decisive victory over Jim Rex and State Senator Robert Ford with 59% of the vote.  He will face either Haley or Barrett in November.

In the First Congressional District State Representative Tim Scott prevailed in a nine person primary and will move to a run off election to face Paul Thurmond.  The winner of the run off will challenge Democrat Ben Frasier who defeated Robert Burton in their primary.

In the Third Congressional District, a Republican run off will be decided between Richard Cash and State Representative Jim Duncan.  The winner of that challenge will face Democrat Jane Dyer who won the Democratic primary and ran against Barrett in 2008.

In the Fourth Congressional District, Trey Gowdy defeated Congressman Bob Inglis, however not enough to decisively win the nomination.  They too will head to a run off and face Democrat Paul Corden in the general election.

In the Sixth Congressional District there was surprisingly a three way Republican primary in this heavily gerrymandered Democratic district.  Jim Pratt and Nancy Harrelson will compete in a run off election to determine who will lose to Congressman Jim Clyburn in November.

In other races, Curtis Loftis defeated incumbent State Treasurer Converse Chellis in the Republican primary.  Leighton Lord and Alan Wilson, son of Congressman Joe Wilson, will move to a run off to determine who the next Attorney General will be.  Neither the AG race nor the Treasurer race was contested by the Democrats.  Ken Ard and Bill Connor will battle it out in the run off to see who the Republicans’ Lt Governor candidate will be.  Mick Zais and Elizabeth Moffly will compete in a run off for the Republican State Superintendent nomination.  The winner will run against Democrat Frank Holleman.

There was a big upset in the State House last night as House Speaker Pro Tem Harry Cato of the 17th House District had the smackdown laid on him by challenger Tom Corbin.  Corbin received 59% of the vote so Cato is outta there!  Two other Republicans in the State House also lost in their primaries.  State Representatives Keith Kelly of the 35th District and Jim Stewart of the 86th were defeated by their challengers.  Additionally, several other State House incumbents were forced into a run off election:  Joey Millwood of the 38th District, Marion Frye of the 39th, Boyd Brown of the 41st, and Richard Chalk of the 123rd.

Finally, probably the sweetest moment of the evening was seeing York County Councilman and scoundrel extraordinaire Paul Lindemann sink faster than the Titanic.  In a four way primary he managed to get less than 12% of the vote.  Republicans David Bowman and Kyle Boyd will move to the run off and the winner will become the next County Councilman for the 1st District as no Democrat filed for the race.

The Disclose Act and the Free Speech of Blogs

There may be a new war brewing between Congress and bloggers, specifically political bloggers like myself and thousands of others.  You may recall back in January, the case of Citizens United v FEC.  This was a case heard by the Supreme Court in which they gutted portions of Federal campaign finance reform laws, thus easing restrictions on the political speech of individuals via corporations and reaffirming the long held SCOTUS precedent of the Constitutional wording of “people” applying to corporations.  The decision never set well, particularly with the Democrats in Congress, and in response they are now pushing H.R. 5175, the “Democracy is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections Act” or more simply put, The Disclose Act.

There is no mention of blogs in the list of communication and there is no language specifically exempting the communication of a private individual like myself and others who write Web sites like this.  Now does that mean the Federal government will actually regulate the free political speech of bloggers?  I don’t know and sometimes I think they write these laws to be purposely ambiguous so nobody knows what the hell they are doing.  I can’t imagine that if they tried it would ever stand up in court.

I’ll keep an eye on this as it moves forward.  According to a press release I got from Congresswoman Virginia Foxx’s office, the House is set to begin debate on the Disclose Act next week and I don’t know what’s going to happen.  What I do know is that the Washington aristocracy is not going to shut me up no matter what Stalinist laws they try to pass and I know I’m not alone on that.  It will be a brutal blow back for them if they attempt to silence the free speech of the people.

North and South Carolina cosponsors of the Disclose Act are below:

Clyburn: If you Speak Out Against Government Corruption You’re a Terrorist

Ever since the Socialists gave the American people a big fuck you on Sunday night and rammed through a nationalization of 1/6th of the American economy, a process that was riddled with months of corruption, lies, and bribery all too similar to the shenanigans you’d see in a banana republic, they are now feeling a threatening backlash from people around the country.   Several socialists have been getting threatening phone calls and rocks thrown through their office windows and some are now concerned about their safety.  Astoundingly they are surprised this is happening.

Congressman Jim Clyburn (D-SC-06) says that if you retaliate against your government which terrorizes you, that in turn makes you a terrorist yourself.

It seems Mr. Clyburn is intent on abusing the word terrorist and diminishing the value of its meaning in much the same way he has the words racism and civil rights. When Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky tried to hold up extended unemployment benefits a month ago and he received death threats from socialists, evidently they weren’t engaging in terrorism. When protesters shut down and violently threatened conservative pundit Ann Coulter at the University of Ottawa a few days ago, evidently that wasn’t terrorism. When Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo had his speech shut down at UNC last year because an angry mob of socialists threw a rock through the window, I guess that wasn’t terrorism either because neither Clyburn nor his ilk expressed any feigned outrage nor did these events get more than a five second mention from the out of the mainstream media. Hell, I could go write a novel on all the vitriol perpetrated by the socialists during the Bush administration. Terrorism is apparently only defined as right wingers who cherish freedom and make scary telephone calls to corrupt members of Congress, or leave a coffin on their front lawn, in order to protect it.

So the big headlines of the day are that the socialists fear they will be on the receiving end of real violence. You know what? It may end up turning out that way and if it does, I can’t say that I give a damn. They brought it upon themselves the day they stopped acting like representatives and instead became tyrants. It might be the only way they get the message that they work for us, not rule over us.

If these people are terrorists then so were George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. After all, they didn’t send threatening messages by carrier pigeon to their British overlords expressing their anger. They launched a full fledged war and killed thousands.

Clyburn Gets Challenger

Columbia attorney Gregory Brown has entered the Democratic primary for South Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District, challenging Congressman Jim Clyburn.  I don’t know what this guy’s chances are of defeating Clyburn, but I wish him all the luck.  Jim Clyburn has been an epic fail of a representative.  Higher debts, larger government, and a worsening of the “Corridor of Shame” has been Clyburn’s legacy for nearly 20 years now.  The only reason he got elected to Congress in the first place was because the Supreme Court forced the state to carve out a district just for him.  He’s never received any serious opposition.

Republicans, Shuler, Kissell, and McIntyre Voted to Protect Your Liberties Last Night

HR 3962, the infamous Pelosi health care bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives last night by a mere five votes.  This doesn’t mean that we’re doomed.  The U.S. Senate still has their own version to pass and then it has to be reconciled with the House bill and both chambers have to vote on the final combo bill.  It is unlikely this will all happen before the end of the year, so there is time for the American people to stop this.

I want you to understand what this bill does.  It is going to cost in excess of $1.2 trillion over the next ten years.  This is all new spending on top of what our government spends today.  Bear in mind, we have a $1.7 trillion budget deficit this year alone an $11 trillion debt.  It’s actually even worse than that, though.  The $1.2 trillion figure is what the House reps are saying.  The CBO has a much, much larger price tag.

Senator Gregg: Updated CBO Estimate of House Bill Pulls Back the Curtain on Majority’s Intent to Grow Government by $3 Trillion

Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH), ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee today commented on the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) more detailed cost estimate of the manager’s amendment to the House health reform bill.

Senator Gregg stated, “The CBO estimate released last night finally sheds light on the smoke and mirrors game the majority has been playing with the cost of their health care reform proposal. Over the first 10 years, this legislation builds in gross new spending of $1.7 trillion – and most of the new spending doesn’t even start until 2014. Once that spending is fully phased in, the House Democratic bill rings up at more than $3 trillion over ten years.

“Additionally, this bill cuts critical Medicare and Medicaid funding by $628 billion, accounts for nearly $1.2 trillion in tax and fee increases and will explode the scope of government by putting the nation’s health care system in the hands of Washington bureaucrats. The $3 trillion price tag defies common sense – we simply cannot add all this new spending to the government rolls and claim to control the deficit.

“If we continue to pile more and more debt on the next generation, they will never be able to get out from under it. The health care system needs reform, but this massive expansion of government, financed by our children and grandchildren, is the wrong way to proceed.”

This bill will fine employers who do not provide health insurance to their employees.  This is a double edged sword.  Many small business, for one, don’t provide it because they can’t.  Of those companies that do, the fine that would be implemented by the Federal government will actually cost less than providing the benefits.  The obvious result is that many companies out there will simply drop employee health benefits and force them onto the public “option.”  Personally, I think this is by design because the Democrats have been very open about wanting a single payer government run health care system and that is exactly the path we will go down.

This bill will make your current insurance policy even more expensive.  Remember how the whole point of health care “reform” was to lower the cost.  Yeah, that’s out the door.  Taxes on medical devices and supplies as well as on insurance companies and mandates requiring them to cover anyone who walks through the door regardless of age or preexisting conditions will raise the price of your insurance.  This will put many more Americans on the public “option” because they won’t be able to afford the premium increase or their company will stop offering the benefits and just pay the fine.  We are headed towards a two-tiered health care system.  High quality health care for the elite rich of our nation who can afford to pay outside the public “option” and a watered down rationed system for the rest of us.

This bill was 1,990 pages long.  Everyone that voted for this bill doesn’t have the slightest clue what is in it.  They haven’t had it long enough to know and many of them have already admitted that they don’t read the bills anyway.

Probably the most destructive part of this bill is the individual mandate.  Never in the history of our nation, one that prides itself of personal freedom and liberty, has our government passed a law forcing the American people to  buy a product.  This is blatantly unconstitutional and I imagine that if the Senate companion bill passes with the same mandate, which it does possess, and this is signed into law there will be Constitutional challenges to this piece.   I want you to understand the ramifications if such a mandate is held up by the Supreme Court.  Going forward our government will have no limitation of powers.  Once they are told by the highest court in the land that they are allowed to tell us what to buy based upon the court’s interpretation of the Commerce Clause or providing the general welfare, they will have complete control over the American people.  Our nation as we know it today will be a thing of the past.  We are heading into a Soviet style government.  Make no mistake about it.

All Republicans in North and South Carolina voted against this bill.  Democrat Congressmen Larry Kissell, Mike McIntyre, and Heath Shuler also voted against the bill.

The following Democrats voted to throw you in the gulag if you don’t buy health insurance.

  • G. K. Butterfield (NC-01)
  • Bob Etheridge (NC-02)
  • David Price (NC-04)
  • Mel Watt (NC-12)
  • Brad Miller (NC-13)

Clyburn on Health Care: Little Effort at Bipartisanship

This is an audio of Congressman Jim Clyburn’s interview on Air America in which he explicitly states that the Democrats made little effort at bipartisanship on health care “reform” and that reconciliation in the Senate is still on the table.

Will Democrats Make a Martyr Out of Wilson?

Everyone knows the story now.  The President gave a public address to the Congress on health care.  Congressman Joe Wilson called him a liar.  There was “shock” and “outrage.”  Wilson apologized.  His opponent raised a ton of money.  The White House accepted Wilson’s apology.  Life moves on, right?  Maybe not.

So, with all this going on, of course, the Democrats would just step back and let Wilson and the Republicans stumble around, right? They would follow that old adage of not getting in the way of your opponents when they’re in the middle of self-destructing, right?

Apparently not.

House Democratic leaders plan to bring a resolution to the House floor next week to admonish South Carolina Republican Joe Wilson if he does not apologize on the House floor for his outburst during President Obama’s joint address to Congress, according to several House Democratic leadership aides.

“He’s violated the rules of the House with inappropriate conduct and he’s subject to reprimand,” said Kristie Greco, spokeswoman for House Democratic Whip Jim Clyburn, D-South Carolina.

Earlier, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had said that Wilson violated House rules — but also said that it was “time for us to talk about health care and not Mr. Wilson.”

Pelosi would be wise to get her troops in order and not let this resolution gather any steam. This looks like the Democrats piling on one member who has already apologized both in an official statement and in a personal call to the White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Obama took the high road Thursday, accepted Wilson’s apology and said it’s time to move on. Trying to keep the story going into a second week makes congressional Democrats look like they’re more interested in crafting political advantage than in trying to uphold parliamentary protocol. Besides, a case can be made that Wilson might, technically, not have violated House rules. A determination would ultimately come down to a party-line vote. But do Democrats really want to have a lengthy debate that might come down to the parsing of the president’s words in a speech — and Wilson’s interpretation of them? Probably not.

NBC

George has a valid point.  If the Democrats keep the feigned outrage going they risk looking like bullies and Stalinists attacking a member of the Congress for expressing an opinion they don’t like.  The public is tired of political shenanigans.  They make great political theater for the mindless masses, but ultimately, the public is not that interested.  They just want things to get done.

Club for Growth Releases 2009 House RePORK Card

The Club for Growth has released their annual RePORK card that gauges how responsible our Congressional representatives have been with our tax dollars.  The result is usually pretty atrocious and this year is no different, but we do have a few responsible representatives in our states’ delegations.  The ratings are based on 68 amendments introduced in the House that would have stripped wasteful earmarks out of 12 annual spending bills.  Representatives who voted for all of the amendments received a score of 100%.  Those that voted for none received a zero.  So how did our guys and girls stack up?

Virginia Foxx (R-NC-05) was the only member to receive a perfect score of 100%.  However, there were a few others who weren’t far behind her.  Patrick McHenry (R-NC-10) received a 99%, voting against only one of the amendments.  Gresham Barrett (R-SC-03) and Sue Myrick (R-NC-09) both received a 97%.  Bob Inglis (R-SC-04) a 96%.  All others were below 90% which means the rest have some work to do, some a little and some are completely worthless.

Two more Congressmen that stood out to me were our two Blue Dog Democrats in North Carolina:  Heath Shuler (NC-11) and Mike McIntyre (NC-07).  Bear in mind that the Blue Dogs are supposed to be fiscal conservatives.  Apparently, these two didn’t get the memo.  Shuler supported only one amendment out of the 68 and McIntyre found the only way to top his poor showing by voting for none of them.

Also on the wall of shame for frivolously throwing your tax dollars away are the following pigs who received a zero score:

  • G.K. Butterfield (D-NC-01)
  • Jim Clyburn (D-SC-06)
  • Bob Etheridge (D-NC-02)
  • Larry Kissell (D-NC-08)
  • Brad Miller (D-NC-13)
  • David Price (D-NC-04)
  • Jack Spratt (D-SC-05)
  • Mel Watt (D-NC-11)

It’s interesting to note that all the high scoring members of Congress are Republicans and all the ones with the shitty scores are Democrats.  That really illustrates the differing views the two parties have on the role of the Federal Government.

Health Care for America Now, a coalition group organizing support for Obama’s proposal, e-mailed a four-page memo to activists across the country on how to provide “cover” to lawmakers at the town halls. The group, whose members include ACORN, the Service Employees International Union and the National Council of La Raza, urged activists to contact lawmakers before the town halls to plan ways to preempt opposition.

My apologies to Dallas Woodhouse but his brother Brad is a left wing hack that not only cannot, but would not tell the truth. The Democrats have the Purple Shirts beating up the opposition. They have ACORN and it’s 350 shadow organizations committing fraud and influencing corruption in Democratic officials. The White House spokesman Gibbs is unwilling or lacks the knowledge to say who is on the enemies list and how are people getting blast emails from Axelrod. And the willingness of people like Pelosi, Clyburn, and Reid to smear average hard working citizens is despicable. This is why the left wing Democrats are losing the argument with the American people.

The Republican Party is not perfect and we understand that. We are all imperfect unique individuals in this country and world. Conservatives, Moderates, and your independent middle of the road Americans do have great ideas on many subjects, including health care. We all can contribute to the effort to make our country better in areas like health care, national defense, and on many subjects at the local, state, and federal levels.  We just need to stay away from more government control and higher taxes. The more the government does the less freedom we have. The more the government takes from you the less freedom you have.

All I can say here is I do not like what I am seeing and I cannot stand by when government tries to cram something down my throat. And unlike the hypocrites on the left I will criticize someone in my own party if I know they are wrong. Obama needs to clean up his own house and get our budget in order before trying to take over 16% to 20% of our American economy.

HANDS OFF MY HEALTH CARE!

Clyburn: Town Hall Protests are Racist

LOL!  Some things never change.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Rep. James Clyburn, (D-S.C.), said that there was “absolutely” an analogy to be drawn between the horrid experience that he went through as a civil rights leader and the boisterous conservatives who have disrupted health care forums.

“I have seen this kind of hate before. I have seen this discussion before,” he said. “I have seen snarling dogs going after people who were trying to peacefully assemble. I have seen the eyes of people who were being spat upon.”

Huffington Post

I’m glad Clyburn said this because it reassured me that we are winning the battle against the government take over of our health care system.  Racism is always the last tactic the far left has in their playbook.  They trot it out once they are backed into a corner and have no other defense left.  Clyburn can’t defend this massive theft of our freedom and he knows it.

“This is all about activity trying to deny the establishment of a civil right. And I do believe that health care for all is — a civil right,” the House Majority Whip argued. “And I think that is why you see this kind of activity. This is an attempt on the part of some to deny the establishment of a civil right.”

This is his second mistake.  Civil rights prevent governement from intruding on personal liberties.  They do not entail the government giving you a free hand out at the cost of your neighbor nor taking control of an entire industry.  Civil rights do not mean the government taking from those who produce something and giving it to those who don’t.  For someone who was a participant in the Civil Rights Movement in this country, you’d think Clyburn would know the difference between the government promoting liberty and the government taking it away with the largest power grab in American history.

Clyburn, a veteran of the civil rights movement, said he was particularly appalled by the use of the Swastika symbol at some of these town hall events. Noting that one had been painted on the office of Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), an African-American, Clyburn insisted that was proof enough that some of the protests were racially motivated.

Get out.  I had no idea the Nazis were black.  Hitler must have been using the Michael Jackson bleach treatment all of those years.  The things you didn’t know you didn’t know.

Clyburn Has No Clue About Economy or Health Care

Clyburn, a South Carolina Democrat, said the results of health care reform will be staggering, and not only in the way it will change lives.

“I think what you will see is our economy take off like it’s never taken off before,” Clyburn said. He added that providing health care was the biggest drag on the American automotive industry, causing it to lose a competitive edge to foreign-made vehicles.

Obama wants health care reform that will control rising costs, guarantee a choice of doctors and make coverage high-quality and affordable, according to the official government Web site on the issue.

The Post and Courier

How is the economy going to massively take off when the government is going to be hiking taxes at all levels to pay for this “free” health care which isn’t deficit neutral?  The CBO has already said the Democrats’ health care bill will cost far more than they are claiming.  The government will be pulling even more money out of the economy than there is now to pay for this “free” health care.  And can Clyburn explain exactly how government controlling costs is going to result in high quality affordable health care?  They always say this, but never explain how this massive government power grab will achieve this.  The bigger question is, has Clyburn actually read the bill?
